This is just the intro to wet your appetite. This is the first year of Cooly Rocks On,taking over from Wintersun that held the event for many years.
They moved on to a new venue(Port Macquarie) but the local City Council took up the challenge and continued with the event and this year was as good as ever.
The 10 day event is a real Rock N Roll/Music/Cars event. The dancers move in early for their competitions and the car part comes later in the week(Wed/Thurs) and moves into the weekend that is also a holiday long weekend.
I was reliably told that cars numbers were good with well over a thousand cars registered. Some come for the whole weekend, and some come in for just the Saturday and Sunday.

The main waterfront esplanade and the street behind are closed off for the 2 days and the cars are displayed for several blocks(about a total of one km in length both sides of the road.)

Had a nice day yesterday(Sat) but today has started with heavy rain but it looks like it may clear.

Photos will come soon when I get back to Brisbane tomorrow and have the facilities to download.I will have probably 200-300 photos to do)

Have seen a lot of HAMBER cars down here as well.

I was there for a couple of hours Yesterday (Saturday) morning to see how it compared with Wintersun. It wasn't the best Gold Coast weather, but, it's raining today (Sunday) and I don't think it's going to clear up.

I thought the event was pretty good overall and rated well for the new organiser's first attempt. It was good to see that public support remains.

Remembered the camera, but only had a 2GB card with me. Took around 500 snapshots (not photographs) which covered less than half the cars in attendance. Once hudson48 has posted his shots, I will see if there is anything I have that might be worth adding. :)

Well back home now and will start uploading some photos. As said in the previous post I think the new organisers did a great job for their first year.
It was a shame the weather wasn't the best for this year but I was suprised how the crowds still came out and braved the showers and the car owners left most of the cars on display for all of Sunday.

I have over 200 photos so be patient. Also not all cars may be HAMB friendly so if you don't like some move onto the next one!!!

Not even half way yet.Picture 254 is a shot from the beach looking back to where the event is held on the Esplanade and the street behind.A great location for a run like this.

the crusie was good to watch, plenty of great cars not put of by the little bit of rain. Pity the cooly hotel had such a crap band on though, only played unrecognisable crap on sat night.

And this is the finale.A couple of shots as the sun set on Cooly Rocks On and the "signature" shots. The cold and rainy weather did not give me a lot to choose from.Always better when the sun is out and the short shorts are around!!!

Hope you all enjoyed this coverage

Great shots man, Been to a couple of wintersun's in the past, I didn't even know Coolangatta was gonna put on a replacement show. I went to wintersun at Port Mac this year. I wont say anything negative, should have just kept drivin north. Raining in both towns by the sound of it. Hey there's always Greazefest in August

Here's an idea for you. Why don't you respect what this forum is all about by leaving out the O.T stuff. Maybe you could just post the H.A.M.B friendly stuff and leave your arrogance in the garage. Most members seem to be able to follow these simple guidelines without resorting to overbearing directives !!! Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures anyway.

  27. didn't mean to take anything away from your coverage, just a comment on the car. sorry. BTW thanks for the pics

No, just don't post them here please. That Ozknobbers site might better suit that style of stuff.

To satisfy the "photo police" I have deleted the "offending" photos.
When you have around 230 photos to upload sometimes things fall into the cracks.
Funny I saw a lot of local HAMBERS looking at the same cars!!!!
