I've still got to get the fan chromed. I also found out only one side of the generator bracket got polished. That'll happen after my tweeker chromer gets back from the beach next week. I also need to get the starter built, that dude is also on vacation til next week. I still need some miscellaneous nuts and bolts polished, oil filter lines, and new spark plugs.

HOLY SH*T! I knew the pink and chrome would look great but man that is killer. Are you planning on painting the engine bay white?

Thanks! Plans are for a white firewall and black inner fenders and everything else.

With that being said, now I'm going back and forth for all black. JJ and I have talked several times about how the engine is like a jewel and the engine bay is like the jewelry box. And as luck would have it, I found an old Rod & Custom editorial from the late '50s that was talking about the same thing (JJ, that was one of the mags I gave you).

The thing that stuck out to me was "the only background for a diamond should be black velvet".

So I don't know. Like I said, I'm going back and forth. Gotta decide pretty soon!

Thanks buddy!!! Let's see if the chesters run as is. If I have to rebuild them, I'll probably end up chroming them too.

Either way it will look great but I think the white firewall with everything else black is the way to go. Can't wait to see it in person.

  7. Hi Terd. ;)

I was talking to my adviser and he said that one sure way to tell if you are an addict is if you find yourself chroming alone. :D
Looks pretty good even if you did pick an effeminate color.

  8. The entire rear-end of the '33 Willys Malco Gasser was chromed... so you got some catchin' up to do.

I think it looks great... no intervention is required unless you are seen with a cry baby doll...

From what I see the spark plugs in chrome might be a nice contrast with chrome wire plugs that have chrome knurled knobs. Chrome vintage clamps too...just sayin'
    Looks bad ass...chrome is classy.

Meanwhile Terd has white painted bumpers and grille. Looks like to might need to replenish the honey pot so that you can start getting exterior pieces chromed!!!

terd, that was some funny shit. ha ha. i too feel your pain. we did the same thing with the 57 buick wagon. the horn ring was $300 to have chromed, so needless to say we had more in chrome than we did in the drive train...

I too was once lost.... But now i'm found.

    Chrome...

It's a bad addiction... it doesn't make your car faster or more arrow dynamic.. it doesn't
save you on gas milage.. But it will take your money and put you in debt all for what???
so you can rub some sorta chemical on it and look at yourself in the reflection and say

goddamit I fucking love chrome :D

My name is Lance and Im a chrome-aholic! When do you stop??
Back in my drag racing days I had an upcoming grudge race challenge, and one day the challenger drops by to see whats up. He looks at my engine and polished intake and says in a faggy voice, "if it dont go chrome it, next thing you know you'll paint it pink". So I proceeded to paint the block and some accent pieces a lovely shade of pale pussy pink. Well, he got spanked by a chrome/pink small block!
Turd, you know you can have the trans polished and/or chromed.

Terd, I just noticed this thread. Sorry man, but I'm going to have to call you out for disrespecting the gold chainer car club name. As soon as I can find a flight to America that will take my wheelchair, "the crushinator", I will meet you in the parking lot of the convenience store of your choosing and we will duke it out! You bring a boom box, the soundtrack to "West side story" and a switchblade, and I will bring Chuck Norris!

Terd, I just want you to know how sorry I am for getting you and jeffrey and shawn and skeeter and jaroma mixed up in this crazy mess...

It just started out with one little steering column and look how it has spread...

    :D

seriously though bro, your engine looks great! you should kick everyone in the balls and tell them how much $ you have in all of your chroming and polishing:)

In retrospect it makes all those sleepless nights worring about your whether your intake got traded for some crank worth it.
