I suggest Greektown. Nearly impossible to "wind up in the wrong neighborhood",great eats,jass/blues/rock bands at most bars after 7pm, casinos etc. EZ off the freeway/EZ on. Pretty much something for everyones idea of "fun". Enjoy your stay and conclude your own opinion about the city. I believe you may go home with good things to say.

The Illitch family (Little Caesar's Pizza) built an all-new Motor City Casino that is now a 4-Diamond Hotel with a little design help from one Chip Foose. The old remodeled Wonder Bread Bakery that was the temporary Motor City Casino may soon become a police station.

There is always a visit to Frankenmuth for the chicken! When I was there a few years ago and had my passport, I went to Niagara Fall through Canada. Just a few hours away.
Stay north of 8 mile road!!

Never have understood the fuss over the chicken. I only live under ten miles from frankenmuth and I've only ate out a couple times. I can make better for cheaper at home imo.

+1. Just got back. Denise's suggestion of a burger at the Sidetrack in Ypsilani was a winner too.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Last night we went to Royal Oak milled around for a while. The plan for tonight is to check out the "ruins".

Tomorrow night the group I'm with is going to the Chrysler museum, so that should be interesting. I am currently in a bus leaving Chrysler headquarters and all I can say is wow. This place is huge. It's like a little city with a barber, cvs, several auditoriums... It would be pretty cool to work there.
