I think this one's been sectioned.I don't care for suspensions dropped that low,but that's just my opinion.Still a cool truck.
I'd like to see the rest of the truck that sits next to this one, though.Anyone know what year and make that is?

got me excited until of the bobber idea...

  3. Bobber idea might be out the window... all these hard ***es are convincing me other wise now haha.

  4. Remember I don't have to be happy to make you happy. I think that it would be better the way I like it so it is just a matter of what makes you happy.

  5. No i completely understand. im just the type thats always got an open mind. And with everyone telling me about how the front end is what made the car what it is, then why not keep it.

Course thats not to say if someone didnt offer me a good amount for the fenders/hood/running boards that i wouldnt take it ;)

Strangers29, yeah that pic definitely looks more appropriate.

As far as the missing grill on yours, I would be willing to bet that if you started the project here, to bring it back to life, someone might be able to help find you a grill at a decent price. If not, there is a lot you can get done without much cash needed, maybe one of the cars you clean up and turn, could end up buying you your grill. Atleast you wont be missing a major component for the meantime.

Throw your engine of choice in there, clean up and fix/replace whats needed to the factory ch***is/stuff for now, chop it if you want, and seal off the body, I think you could get by without spending too much, and all of that is gong to take some time anyhow.

Either way, its your dollar, and your truck, am just trying to help with a little guidance, as I've somewhat been in your shoes before on projects.

    ---

porkn******....thanks for quoting all the pics. ;)

  8. haha, he's just trying to make sure no one missed any of them! haha

Yeah, my intentions were to start sanding the body parts down and get them primed (that way if i sell them i can get a little more out of it, or if i choose to use them they are ready)

  9. Thanks oldrelic. i'd found the thread for fenderless... hadnt seen the one for WITH fenders.

they can look pretty *****in with fenders actually.

Well......try to hang on to this one, find an old grill that's not broken, throw a motor in it, some good brakes, stock seat & gauges, rewire it so no fires and when finished ya got a pretty good shop truck that you can drive the hell out of!
    GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN.

yes, I had spotted the GMC, but back to the point of the thread.
I appreciate that you like the bobber look, but as the truck appears to be fairly complete and in good shape why not go with the patinated body and the survivor shop truck look, I know this is perhaps old hat.

The bobber trucks that really look good are the original Rudy's truck and the "Royal Canadian" there are others that look good but to me these two were the originators of the look, the rest whatever their quality are copies.

No doubt I'll get slated, for my comments here, but the survivor look has it's benefits, get it running safely, ie brakes ,steering and suspension, new / rebuilt engines and bodywork (expensive) can be carried out at will if you so desire while still having the style and utillity value of a truck, once your running upgrades can be made as the budget and spare time allow.

I threw up in my mouth when you mentioned bobber and that truck...if your going to do that I'll get you a cab and pay you for that truck plus some profit....if you do anything like that all your doing is ruining the truck....it's as bad as all the "R" word guys

All these old trucks have such beautiful lines all styled by engineering artists. It kills me that someone thinks they can restyle them by removing parts and changing the whole personality of the truck. If all you had was a cab, maybe I could understand it but its all there. It's a fairly rare truck, it should at least be recognized as such.

Please dont bob it way more personality with fenders. Once its bobed theres no going back. With fenders you keep all the options open. just my 2 cents

  18. Hey truckncoupe, you have any other pics of your boys truck??

The more you guys are talking about these old parts trucks and "shop looking" trucks the more i want one.

  20. haha yep! plus the way i look at it now... i'll get it all cleaned up and in running condition and trade it for a rod i'd rather have haha.

  21. The truck is definitely a '41. Basically same as a '40, but the wide hood and grille center chrome and the rectangular Ford emblems on the hood sides and center of dash mark it as a '41. I'd rather see it built as a full fendered truck rather than a bobber, but if you go the latter route and sell the bed and rear fenders, those parts are the same '38-'41 (except for no V8 emblem under the Ford script on a '41 tailgate, since Ford offered 6 and 4 cylinder options in addition to the V8 in '41.)

    Not a bad plan.

  23. I didnt dig around under the hood much, but im fairly positive that its got the flat head v8 in it. But if i remember correctly, the top of the motor had been pulled (covers, intake, ect.) and then the top of the trans was pulled apart as well, so they've both been out in the weather.

well if youre not willing to sink thousands and thousands of dollars into it, Im afraid youre in the wrong hobby. Also put me down as a vote for fenders, how anybody could take the gorgeous fenders off a 40/41 is just downright wrong.

Thats a no ****ter right there.

Whenever I get a new ride it cant be a truck or a bike. Has to fit the old lady and two little girls too. But you know what... I wouldn't have it any other way. It's just not as fun without them.

You mention budget, money, flipping cars etc. Vote with your wallet on this one. Put it in the cl***ified as it is, and see what happens. I personally hate bobbers (like having a teal duallie in the 90's), but it ain't mine. If you want money for other projects, now is the time. Given the choice to buy two identical projects, one as found and one in primer, I'd buy the one in as found condition every time. And pay a few bucks more as well. You've got nothing to lose.
