    You can see some of this history in motion by going to the California Hot Rod Reunion...in case you weren't aware. Check out any nostalgia drag meet you can find.....you just never know what great stuff you'll see!!!!

    Its incidents like these that incited the NHRA to require that everyone piloting a superchared/nitro car to wear a fire suit and accessories.

    How many times do we need to have this conversation? Skip has ask NICELY to keep his thread on topic (i.e. 1968 or earlier). Recreations/clones are O/T! People with a helmet & respirator on are not "drag cars in motion".....come on people quit messin' with this thread, and trying to make it what YOU want it to be!

    this seems to happen every-other week; as soon as somebody returns from a nostalgia meet and has to share their pictures of (what they think are the original) historic cars, or when somebody takes a pic of a barely recognizable pre-68 car running in pro mod.

    a '66 nova with a pro stock hood scoop would not be appropriate. neither would a stretched fuel altered, a '58 fairlane running in pro mod, or a fed with modern fuel injection, blower and cage.

    seems to me that the rule of thumb should be: 1968. if your picture was taken after that year, this is probably not the place for it.

    even if your picture is (in your mind) the bitchenest picture you've ever seen!

  18. Please. This is the best thread, ever, on the HAMB. Drag cars in motion. Not a deep or difficult concept. History. Drag cars. In motion. Perfect concept, no? Really doesn't need anything else, right? OK.

    @Rick Finch: Thanks for the shot of the 15oz Coupe. Mike Bartlett recently passed away and seeing his name on the door made me smile. He was a good friend. Neat to see Ma Zard's name on there, too.

    Uhhh, I don't recall any mention of the cars having to be true historic cars, nor is the title of this Thread "Historic Drag Cars In Motion". It's Drag Cars in Motion" , and the cars need to fit basic HAMB topic cars, and that's it. So they can be build yesterday, or this morning, for that matter, so long as they are pre '68 cars.
    Someone show me I'm wrong on this...

    Must be free pass night at the laughing academy...Where the hell do these "people" come from?? And the last time I checked, "cool" didn't have anything to do with pre-'68. What the fuck is so hard to understand here, the guy who STARTED this thread has asked REPEATEDLY to keep it pre-68 only....Welcome to the new improved HAMB...

    It IS the rule of thumb. just some peoples egos are so completely outsized that they figure they know better than the guy who started the thread, and their pics are the greatest frames ever shot, so we should sit down, shut up, and be thankful for the off-topic crap they insist on posting.

    Bead-locks were not around back in the day. I know cause I was there. Rodlites were not around in the day either. And the original Rat Trap was about a foot shorter. Now these little technical "obscurities" may escape some of you, but those of us that were there DO happen to notice this kind of stuff. I have posted a photo of the "Rat Trap" back in the day, and by the way, even THIS photo is outside the time frame for this thread, as it is circa 1970. As "cool" as the Rat Trap was in the orange paint scheme, even the ORIGINAL REAL DEAL is too new for this thread, and if you had EVEN THE REMOTEST CLUE about drag racing history, I wouldn't have to point that out. Note the length of the chassis, the lack of bead-locks, the cage, the hieght of the engine in the chassis, the lack of blower bag and restraints, and on, and on, and on. It takes more than a paint scheme to make a car period. The best one was the photo of Beswicks tempest from the eighties, 522, Big Chief heads, sheet metal tunnel ram, split dominators and all. Oh yea, thats real sixties drag racing all right...
