I finally took some time from the honey -do- list and got a little done on the Anglia today I have been sweating the clearance problem with the rear tires,, wondering what I was going to have to do to make things work ,,and not have to alter the fenders,, So I decided to remove the parts that the previous owner left of the origional inner fender tubs, to see what kind of clearance I could get,, I think everything will clear just fine, I jumped up and down on the back of the body and nothing bottomed out,, (My fat ass makes it bounce pretty good) Now I need to get a subfloor built in the body and some body mounts,, also thinking about some running boards,, EDIT . when I cut out the bracing that ran verticaly up the sides and attached to the origional wheel tubs, ( after doing the cross bracing) the sides popped out probably 3/4 of a inch. on each side..( notice the 1st & 2nd picture on the bottom row) now the body sides have a nice smooth roll to them all the way from the doors to the rear, relieved a lot of tension appairently.. now I will build a body support structure out of 3/4 X 1" tubing, I like the way the tires are buried in the rear
Great build thread! What are your plans for a fuel tank- where and how big? Most people put them in back but it looks like your rear axle setup might preclude that.
Gonna be a small one for sure,,( maybe hold enough gas enough to start it) I think it will have to go behind the R/E above the frame rails, fitted between the wheel tubs,,? Have to address gthat problem when the time comes I think,, but have been trying tio come up with ideas,, space is a premium, any ideas???

How about some saddle tanks just in front of the rear wheels? Just make sure you have a good driveshaft loop! You could interconnect with some hose so both sides fill at the same time.
That fat ass you see there belongs to your's truly.. The primered van you see is the Thames before I shot some fresh primer on it,, And Yeah,, I like the moon tank idea,, maybe for a reserve, just in case
Good idea,, BUT Thats where the seats have to go.. that tubing you see there will be taken out, and moved back closer to the wheel tubs.. These things are REALLY SMALL, just a bit over 48" wide and about 65" or so for all this mess to fit into,, woops,,,,,,,,, just noticed that YOU also have oa anglia,, so don't need to tell you how small they are do I?
Yup, I'm thinking of between the bottom of the rocker panel and the bottom of the seat. You must have 12-18" of depth available there I would think. I'd rather have the fuel lower than farther to the rear if I had a choice. Locating the tank on top of the rear floor makes for a large sloshing mass over the rear axle. Actually, I have a Thames as well, but didn't build it myself.
I like the idea of two tanks, but I think I'd build two small tanks that fit on either side of the quick change behind the rear axle, and between the frame rails. Then tie them together with line so you draw from both. Wouldn't block access to the 3rd member either, and might get a bit more fuel than a moon tank, and not be near the driveline for safety.
got thewheel tubs put together today,, what a fight that was,, need to be cut down to 16" wide,, they are 24 now,,

Thanks ,, As for the rating on the shocks,, I will have to check that and get back to you,,( EDIT ) The spring s are 240# 9 " long As for the Chris Alston chassis,, They make all types of different components to mix and match what ever you are building,, For the front end I used the rail kit#7104,, that has the 3 1/2 " ground clearance, at the bend, they also make them for a 4 1/2 clearance the front suspension is the light weight A-Arm coil/over with rac & pinion steering, rear frame sections are # 7114 with the 4 link, and a diagonial locater bar,, then you just cut em up and weld em together Just google chris alston chassis works and then click on chassis works and then whatever component you want to look at,,ET chassis front susp rear susp clips ETC,, Under The E-Store at the top You can PM me if you want,, slikwilly1@live.com

Thanks guys,, on the fuel tank!! I'm thinking between the rear frame rails. and tubs, built to fit, probably be around a 10-12 gal. maybe??? Contured to fit, and squared off at the back,,, I'll probably mock one up in poster board, first
Got the tubs in after taking out the origional wheel tubs, and bracing,, the sides popped out about a inch on each side,, allowing enough room for the tires to clear the sides,, so no need to move the fender up now,
My Glass Body is an original 1967 SO CAL.............Contemporary Fiberglass Body......so does it qualify as a SO CAL car......?
BBBBBBBBBBaaad.Your an inspiration.It looks like I,m copying you as we are using so much of the same stuff,your motor is a bunch more rad. mind you,I,m not going the same stance as you but I still love the look.On the opening pictures the front fenders look steel but I'm sure your running a glass front(to be flipped?)and glass rear doors?I mention it 'cause I want to run all steel front that will flip;but I want the hood to open as stock.Could have a problem there,don't you think.Cake and eat it too!!!As soon as I got something thats more interesting than nothing I will slide them in here if your OK with that?
