Thats the whole point about "getting it". If you dont "get it", even if you get some from the people who do "get it" you still wont have it, got it? Now, just to keep this post on topic..........

No need for an appology, but it would be nice if you'd delete the pics of O/T cars.

    Thanks.

The offending vehicles have been removed.....those that are the actual and historically accurate cars remain!!! the bead lock wheels used to run the cars are not correct , but I thought minor updates to historic cars to remain legal would pass muster... my apologies!!!!

Ok, just to help things along, I have actually started a thread for modern day photos of modern Nostalgia cars. Post your stuff there to your hearts content. No-one will bitch, and hopefully, it will help keep this thread "pure". Dont say I never did anything for you...

I know it's nit picking and I love both cars, but I think the KS Pittman car and the Boss Hydro are both tribute cars built by Rocky Pirrone and his crew.

And to keep things on track an early picture of Skip Hess.

They are, but it was hard enough to get him to pull the photos of the cars with bead-locks and so on. I actually have a few construction photos of the KS Pittman tribute, maybe I will post them on the new thread later on...

That shot of Willy with the wheels up and hazing the tires is one of my all-time favorites. Had that on my bedroom wall when I was a kid...

Just to clarify a few things, the comp coupe being towed behind the nomad is a 1967 Don Long chassis that was run as a top fuel car, all of the parts used in its restoration are from that era, the coupe body was a later addition, but the car is the real deal as verified by Pat Foster, the K.S. Pittman and Boss Hydro cars are "tribute" cars in the truest meaning, they were both destroyed in top end crashes, and both rebuilt with the remaining parts. The K.S. 33 has enough parts of the original, that a nationally known museum accepted it as a restoration. The Boss Hydro has many of the original parts as well. ALL of my cars are tribute cars to my Dad and friends of mine. I'm in the process of restoring my Dad's steel 40 Willys from 1965, even though its the real deal, I still consider it a "tribute" to him.....

    Rocky

p.s. Thank you bigolds for the great shots!

I knew Mike Bartlett, didn't know he passed away...the stories about him could go on a long time, never far from trouble but a great guy....married to Jim Busby's sister, which is where "Ma Zard" came from...she was Busby's mother and, as long as Mike drove the coupe, Ma bought speed parts...

    RIP, Mike

I have actually gone to the trouble to set up a separate thread for modern photos of restos, tribute cars, ect. here is a link.
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6680251#post6680251

I'm sure with all the great tribute cars and restorations and so on, the new thread will be a big success, now there is a PLACE for your modern photos, so you dont have to post them here and be told off by a whole bunch of guys for your efforts. Thanks everybody for respecting what this thread is all about.
