We have our home for sale in Port St. Lucie Florida. We moved here from R.I. (Two years ago) after I retired. I found a nice big house with two attached garages and a detached over size three car garage (With a loft) on a 1/2 acre of land....just what I wanted. One problem..... there's nothing going on here! I have three Hot rodded vehicles and a Harley. However.... to have some fun you need to go 50 miles or more! Yes there are cruise nights, but it's not like up North. We are located 145 miles South of Daytona beach , off Rte. 95. I have somebody that is interested in the house, but where do my wife and I go? I don't want to buy a snow shovel ever again, I don't want "HMO Yuppyville" either. We want a place where prices are reasonable, I would have room for my "Stuff" and people that are cool with Cars & Bikes. Do these places exist anymore? PS: I'd like to stay away from "Low-Livesville", because I'll shoot the first intruder and end up spending my later years in the Greybar Hotel.
After just spending a week in Tennessee,Kentucky,North Carolina,I would move down in a heartbeat.You are already used to humidity. Wives' job keeping us here in NY. Really liked Bowling Green-hell it was all good.
lots of places, I like AZ outside of sedona is nice, but it tends to get a bit cold, there are things going on, and phoenix is only 2hrs away phoenix sucks (sorry phoenix hambers), but its a cool place to visit, prescott is nice too, but they get snow, northern cali is nice too, but hope ya got a ton of money. if ya do happen to move to az.. stay away from the white mountains, its just like where your at now. lol anyways good luck..
North of the Florida/Georgia border = possible snow Maybe Southern California has what your looking for if you can afford it.
I would say North Carolina for sure. I'm from Wilkes county NC and wish I was still anywhere in NC. Once I retire from the air force I will for sure be back in NC. I would look around the Charlotte/concord area or around Winston-Salem. I'm stationed in South Carolina right now and about the only place I like in this state would be Charleston, but not better than NC. There's my $0.02 good luck!
I'll 2nd AZ......if you can stand the heat. pretty much something auto related going on within a resonable drive anywhere in the state....year round.
We live in Kentucky, lots of rod activity along with those in Indiana and Ohio. Too many rod runs to list. We also have a vacation home in the Florida Pan Handle where rod activity is non existent other then one week in November when Cruisin the Emerald Coast is held. If you want rod activity NW Florida is not the place. The beaches, fishing and seafood however are fantastic. I would recommend Kentucky other then some snow in the winter.
there has to be a better area in florida where there are hot rods. my wife and i are headed down to fl. this fall for a few weeks to find an area we like. maybe deland, bushnell, port charlotte areas.i'm sick of the snow and cold also.
I had the good fortune to live in Northern Nevada for the better part of a decade and wholeheartedly recommend it. Avoid Reno if you don't like the usual city lifestyle but anywhere else along, or just off of, I-80 is fantastic living - less expensive, no sales tax and the folks up there tend to value personal liberties a lot more than many other places. I personally lived about 30 miles outside of Reno ... close enough to use the city when it suited me but away from the masses that were fleeing California's collapse. That type often can't handle living rural. And sometimes, a good engine sounds even better when it's the only one you can hear.

I almost relocated in the Knoxville, Tennessee area years ago and regret not doing it. Scouted around the area and just west of there and found a lot of places that were reasonable and you would have access to the rest of the country except the far west in a day or so drive away. Only a bit of snow in the winter and it doesn't last much more than a day, warm summers and a fair amount of rodding activity close by. Frank
You have obviously never been to the upstate of SC, specially Greenville. We moved here from PA many years ago and love it especially the downtown area. Plus, we are in the foothills of the Smokey and Blue Ridge Mountains and just next to Lake Hartwell which is huge. I would recommend Greenville to bigalturk1 in a heartbeat for the Harley but we don't have a very active car scene, only a few of us actually like to drive our old cars.
I'd vote for NC especially the concord, Charlotte area, lts of car stuff going on plus easy access to Tennessee and SC as well. weather is good and no hurricanes like you have in Florida. As a 35 year transplant from Florida, they can keep it!

Tucson,,,,112 right now. East-o-town in Vail. Lotsa car guys, very intense HAMB posters/action. 16 years here and not goin anywhere soon. Decent scene and show criteria. Projects out the wazoo.
Check out Nashville Tenn. It's not so hot in he summer and should be not too cold for an old Yankee. Plenty of bikes and hot rods, land is fairly reasonable costwise as well.
If ya like the east coast, very minimal snow, and the beach reasonably close....come to NC. Some where outside Charlotte would put you in the thick of NC hot rod country. Just avoid the military towns.....like Fayetteville...very small hot rod community here, and kinda hard to get used to the mentality in this town if your civilian. But NC is wonderful....wouldnt trade it. There are still honey holes of original parts from the 20's,30's,40's.....etc (going to one on Monday)...but a great state. .......And the best BBQ

I have lived in California and North Carolina. California is too fast and too busy. North Carolina is too hot and humid. I now live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It never gets over 80* and very little snow in the winter. Lots of decent cars and bikes here, also.
