D*mn! Looks great. Like how you incorporated the hood, inspires me to get on my '48 and do something different.
I saw your truck at Billetproof this past weekend, I have been following your build and have been very impressed. Even more impressive in person, all the little details. You nailed it. Great job!
Made the trip to Billetproof last weekend,(lost a headlight ring on the way there),the wife had her camera as usual,so I thought I would post a few pics she took of the truck while we were there.....
I kinda agree with Jim ^^^ the lack of the ring takes the focus away from the headlights, and onto the rest of the truck. .....and a sweet frikken truck it is too!!!
I gotta agree, it looks better without the headlight ring. Besides, someone probably ran over it and you don't want to put that ol bent up thing back on anyway.
First, I just want to say thank you again to all of you have taken time to check out my build. Got to go to the Road Rocket Rumble yesterday.Had the chance to get some pictures of my truck with one that is bone stock. The changes are very apparent with them side by side. And a couple my wife took that I liked..... Some of you my have noticed KustomLincolnLady's gorgeous Lincoln setting next to my truck. It was nice to have them travel with us too the and from the show. It has been quite a while since they left the bike in the garage and brought out the Lincoln.
Great build! All the details take it to another level...great job! and that grille is freakin nice.......but I was thinking I would love to see some white walls...black, red & white
How dare you prove me wrong !! lol That is definitely the best 'rough shop truck' we will see for a long time. Thank you for demonstrating your talents. davo.
Been a while since I posted an update on the '48,so I thought I would. Its been hiding under a layer of blankets and sheets in the corner of the garage while I have been working on my '38.Decided it was time to get the '48 back out and tie up a few odds and ends before the weather gets real nice out. One of the things I wanted to address was the lack of pcv valve.I found a website that makes spacers for the strombergs, that also have a vacuum port in them. The spacers are 1 inch thick. I ended up painting them black to match the lower part of the strombergs.I used a small chrome 90 degree fitting in the center one. After working up enough nerve,I drilled a hole in the front top of the valve cover.I used a matching chrome fitting with a nut on the inside to hold it tight.I ended up using some 3m panel bond when I did the final assembly to seal it completely to the valve cover, and to keep the nut from backing off. I found a small pcv valve, and am using it inlne. The basic idea was to add a pcv valve and not have it stick out like a sore thumb. I put the fitting in the front of the valve cover so it would be partially hidden by the alternator. The hose runs down and be hind the heater hose with the pcv valve being tucked down by the water pump. Then runs up to the carb.
Hey Joe, appears I should check in a bit more often, LOL just saw this.thanks we had a great time, kinda had forgotten how nice the Lincoln rides!!!! headed to Torque Fest in May, Rob wants to go to some shows this summer ...planning beatersville also as of now
I just found this thread on a search using, "Shop Truck" - GAWD, this truck is incredible and your skills and your "eye" are tremendous. I only wish I had a little bit of your skill. Super congratulations. WOuld you mind if I ask, what black paint you used on the frame/suspension parts, the interior before the insulation (looked like it might have been brushed on), and the sprayable filler and 2K primer brands/types. Apologies for so many questions. Again a FANTASTIC looking truck.
Thank you for the compliments. All the paint on the chassis, suspension, underside of the truck, inside the cab under the insulation is all Rustoleum. Most of it was brushed on and some was rolled on with a 4" foam roller. The roller leaves a nicer finish,(did that on the front frame sections where its more visible). The paint colors are gloss black and hammertone black, which is actually a dark gray(its on the wishbones, and front axle). I think the two colors work well together and are easy to touch up if necessary(I drive it,chips happen). The sprayable filler (yellow/orange color) is Clausens Z Chrome Rust Defender.I used it to help fill some of the smaller pits that were still in the bed sides after I cleaned them up,it worked really well. The 2k primer(gray) is the Summit Racing brand 2k primer. I think this combination of products worked pretty well for me.I am using the same combo on my '38 Im working on right now when I get to the point of primer/filler again. Hope this answers your questions, will be glad to answer any other questions you may have too. Joe
I got it from NAPA. Its part number is CRB 29394. Here is a link to it on napa's web site. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=CRB29349_0182367489 I think it will work with a 3/8" hose. I think its actually made to screw into an intake,I chose it because it is small and I was able to use it inline. I did run it across a buffing wheel on the bench grinder before I installed it. It actually shined up pretty good. Joe
Thank you Joe. It was execrly the info I wanted. Again. compliments on a beeeoootiful truck. Now I can't wait to read your next build thread. Best to you, Dan.
Just found your truck thread. Talked to you at Road Rockets 2011. Real nice truck! I've got a 50 hot rod truck that's on the road, but not done.
I got a chance to look this truck over last week and it's even more impressive in person. I have even more respect for it after looking at this thread and seeing all the fab work that went into it. Very cool.
Hey John, congrats on your Honorable Mention for your pic for Streetscene cover. Way to go, if I was voting your would have won. Very nice pic....Jim
