There a hell of a lot of guys around who could take some lessons from that car. The body sits on the frame exactly right for a channeled car. Keep it up.

"Building" a Ford hotrod is like "restoring" a Schwinn bicycle.
It's almost too easy because so many replacement parts are available or reproduced. Try hotrodding a Star or redoing a JC Higgins!

Probably why so many S.O.B.'s as it was put end up looking like an SOB body on a Ford chassis, original or aftermarket.

Oh yea, The non-Ford is the GMC in the avatar.

I love Fords and think they are the very foundation of Hot Rodding BUT, they Do get boring after awhile. I like S.O.B.s when they aren't Ford copies--why, for instance, do so many people doing old Mopars, Buicks, Chevies, Internationals and the like have to cut the perfectly good parallel leaf front ends off and replace them with Ford transverse springs and axles?

  19. My frame was bare and I had no springs. Two were cheaper than four.

  20. They're all off brands. Just depends on your point of view I suppose.

Actually if you spend a day or two on the board you will find as many non-Ford rods and customs as you do Fords.

Now that would make an interesting poll. What kind of car do you own? I couldn't do it because someone would get their panties in a wad and think I was trying to win something but it would make an interesting poll. Give a pretty basic list of manufacturers, add other for the really different beasts.

Someone ought to do that. The poll would tally then it would be a matter of one of the mathematicians crunching the numbers to come up with percentages.

I would have to vote 3 times I am crap when it comes to brand loyalty.

  22. I know that Ford probably used a buggy spring for cost effectiveness he was pretty sharp that way. But the truth is that I still like the ride in a lighter vehicle of a transverse spring over parallel leaf springs.

Doesn't mean that if I had a roller with parallel leaf springs that I would get in there and change them but if I had the option at build time and I was building a light car I would no doubt run a buggy spring.

Has nothing to do with looking like a Ford and everything to do with personal preference.

That said I only own one Ford, a Studebaker, a Willys pickup (61) and an MG TD.

I do have pics of all of them but none that I would deem worthy of posting at this point.

LOL...looks like you've got the wrong point of view then...:D:rolleyes:

FWIW, I don't own any panties (and I'm secure in my manhood) :)...but why do you think anyone would be upset...???

Four times for me: Studebaker, Pontiac, Chevy and Cadillac...had a Ford once (chopped '33 four door body only) before I got more intelligent...:cool:decided I rather lead than follow...:D

  25. You never get all het up we just cuss and discuss. I do most of the cussing. :D

One thing I have learned about the HAMB if someone is not secure in their situation or just paranoid by nature you can usually out them with the proper question. Even if that is not what you are trying to do.

Its my own fault I have stirred the pot so much that everyone always thinks I am after them.

Hey you if anyone I know would have owned one, have you ever had an old jag say mid '50s? I know it would be totally OT for the HAMB but I would like to get my hands on an old jag or a morgan.

Saw a really nice '60 Jag in Pueblo at the NSRA thingie...was painted black, had an SBC in it and tan leather interior...not quite mid-50's...but I don't think they changed the bodies that much in those early years...

Those early Morgans are rare...which you prolly know...

Seen at this year's Street Machines of Rochester (NY) show. '26 Chrysler coupe powered by 331 Chrysler Industrial rescued from a quarry where it powered a rock crusher. Trans is GM Turbo 400.
