Tanner's father-in-law Dave's 34 roadster is just plain bad ass! Man that is a neat hot rod. Your 5w looks a ton better with the new wheels and hood sides!

Sam, doesn't everyone drive like that.
Tanner: do you have the panel between the grill and radiator. I have an extra if you need and want it.

    3 3/4" works pretty well.

  5. I like where this project is going! I'm a '32-'34, big and little Halibrand/ET wheel, fenderless outlaw hot rod kind of guy, so this is right up my alley.

Just whack the top about 3.5", lower the ride height a couple of inches, and narrow the rear end to get the tires to tuck a little closer to the body, and some lowered '34 Commerical headlights.

    Use Rick's 5-window as a guide. It's perfect. Or Billy Vinther's orange '34 3-window:

Please keep us updated on the progress, and THANK YOU for keeping this hobby alive and not going the import route that 95% of the current generation is tinkering with. Granted, those cars are to them what the early Camaros and Mustangs were to my generation, but even when I was 21, I would have killed to have as bitchin' a '34 as yours. Congrats on the sale and the cool road trip home.

  6. I dunno about the chop. SO MANY cars are chopped, that the un-chopped ones have more of a "trick" look to me lately. I think I'd be tempted to leave the roof alone. I think the proportion in the 2nd picture on post #83 is flawless

  7. Thanks guys for the U-Tube videos & H.A.M.B. updates. Sounds like it was an adventure that most H.A.M.B.E.R.S. just dream about.:D
    Keep us posted!

Dudes, thanks for the great story,I'm impressed. You've got to have balls the size of grapefruit. 1200 miles on a untested buy. Good luck

Thanks for all you did and all the video's and pictures. Remindes me of my similar adventure to pick up my first 34 but was short of the 1200 miles you did. I was 18 and according to my parents a total idiot for going after an old jalopy and thinking I could get back home. Well I did and had a hell of a time and you guys did it on your own with balls to spare. Congratulations on a great adventure.

Rick: I don't have that panel, but I might not run it. Right now I am on the look for some side pans to put on with the hood. Thanks for offering it!

Here's an update from last weekend. The 34's first car show in WA state! The Apple Run. This is friday night at a local little burger joint. The 38/39 pickup is our own "rusty bill" neat patina'd pickup.

This is our buddy dan's 35/36 roadster. He built it out of a burning barrel coupe that he found in a ditch. This is my brothers model a coupe. My dad and him just made the fan shroud for it.

Tanner and Sam, like the car! Kinda reminds me of Dave and I pickin up my '34 5-windo in Sacremento in '76 and driving it back to WA. There were 3 of us squeezed into that thing. Drove straight thru. We didn't put a plywood insert in, maybe that's why Dave suggested it? We were older and wiser in our 30's, but remember it like it was yesterday. Would like to do it again, I think, how about it Dave? Congrats on the trip and the car. Bob

Thanks Bob! Ya we had a blast! It was fun hearing that story of the three of you going down to pick-up your 5-window. A road trip you will always remember!

Chris: Ya the 5-window is doing great as a delivery rig! I almost didn't have enough room for everything today though.
