Just got some fenders for my 34 - RED Ones- they dont look right they are suppose to be 33- 34 Henry Was there a differance in 33-34 thanks
what the.................looks like somebody grafted the front of a 32 fender to a 33-34 ford fender..or maybe it's a 33-34 hupmobile fender. They shared the styling of 33-34 ford bodys with some changes...I'm told Briggs body company made bodys for both companys in those years...definetely not a stock 33-34 ford fender.
Yeah...Hupmobile or Hudsons I'd say.. Then again, there was the Brewster car with similar shaped fenders

Dean Moon looked for a long time for fenders like these for his yellow '34. He ended up doing a shorter-than-these bob, scandalously trimmed over the fronts of the tires...
I know there was an early '33 fender that didn't have the side skirts... Wonder if there was further changes between when side skirts came in and the generic '33 '34 fender we all know and love...?
Put up some close up pics of how the underside of the beads were rolled under, especially in the front parts. Also, look for a spot where the modified bead was blended into the unmodifed bead about halfway back. My best guess is that these are very early mods done by a upper end custom body builder in the 30s when the car was brand new, or a very upscale well known customizer in the 40s-early 50s. I think you found something real good. If the bead work underside is top shelf work and you can't even find the blended seam, I would think it was a car done when brand new...something similar to what Henry's son had done in those years to his own car.
I copied and blew up the picture to see what the rolled wire edge looked like. The shape of the wire edge changes a little as it comes off the straight section over the wheel and going around the front of the fender. This leads me to believe that they are original fenders that have been modified. Looks like a very good job was done on them. If you look at the underside of the fender you should be able to a difference in the rolled edge from the straight section over the wheel all the way around the front of the fender. The rolled edge looks to be a little wider and flatter in that area than on the part of the fender that was not modified.

I did go through my collection last night and found a picture of a '34 Brewster bodied car as suggested above... Pretty damn close. Sorry, my scanner won't make anything the right size to post.
33 and 34 Ford fenders DO have differences from each other. But I think your red fenders are modified Fords. Looks to be well done, and probably many years ago, as F&J said. And if they are Brewsters, I'd bet Brewster started with original Ford stampings and modified them also. Take a pic of the mounting edge near the grille area and we can tell you if they are 33's or 34's.
Stop teasing...we want to see the underside of the beads When the Ford fenders were stamped, there were no beads yet. They were then hand fed through a wire roller. If these show no changes from front to back, then it would be likely they were modded when new, by a body builder company that could get the raw stampings from Ford. I'd say it is more likely that you will see some blend work under the beads, so then it would be a customizer redoing a stock Ford fender.
I appreciate all the replys - I will take some pictures of the bead from the underside - I am very curious about the fenders know . if modified -has anyone seen a picture of a car with Fenders like these again thanks guys for all the help

Looks like it was done by a hotrodder/custom guy, not a bodybuilder company. There is just too much difference in the Ford wired edge and the "new" wire edge. Also it shows traces of old orig black paint under the fender, so they left the Ford factory as stock fenders. Still a cool find for the right type of build style.
Just curious. Did you get them sight unseen as originals or get them because they were unique. (sp ?)
