Some of the newly "famous" hot rods: The Green Grenade, Verne from the Choppers 34', and Jimmy Shine's Pick em-Up. Then of course all the old Rad hot rods like, The California Kid, The Emperor, etc.....

Those, and the Beatnik Bandit. I've been sketching cars ever since, primarily because of those three. Honorable mention to the Hot Wheels Sand Crab and Dick Dastardly's car on "The Wacky Races." :D

Before finishing the question,Stone Woods and Cook came to mind.I had a one time chance to go to Lions and they were their, very impressive. So much so that I had to build my 55 Chevy to run in C gas.But a cute little split tail came along and taking care of her and shortly a family,:D my racing funds were dried up.

Being the owner of a '30 pickup, seeing Jake's '29 at Sedona in the early '80's was huge. Being 19 I was too shy to speak to him that day and have regretted it since I've heard he's actually a nice guy.

Here are a few of my favs from reading Hot Rods when I was growing up in the late 80s, early 90s...Boyd's Chezoom, and the Pro Box '60 Chevy and Bumongous '50 Buick from Troy Trepanier. Not really the best era for rods style wise IMO, but when you grow up with some things they just stick on you.

  17. I had already been into street rods for a few years but the first time I saw Lil John Buttera's white '29 Ford Highboy did it for me. WOW! So detailed...looked so simple yet was engineered beyond anything that had been done to that point in time (mid 70's ?).

The Daytona Coupe that beat Ferrari's ass in FIA Championship...the Ford GTs that beat the World and the Cobra which is timeless and still the most awesome potent machine on the road...things that dreams of kids in the 60's were made of.....my opinion!:)
