  2. 5 inches of toe in would be so odd looking that it could not possibly look drivable.
My little sister would say "something looks broken, I'm not driving it"
Taking an 1/8 out of that amount is the equivalent of claiming to have changed the amount of water in the ocean because you pissed in it.

Here is the scribing tool made for solid axle toe:

It is spring loaded against the tire so the needle can follow a tire that is out of round like all tires are.

You scribe a line by spinning the tire and aim the needle between 2 grooves.

  4. So where are you on this?

  6. Hey lorodz,
So hows this coming around for you? Some feedback as to what the problem was and how you corrected it helps us all get better and more knowledgeable about hot roding. The search function is great and helps every one on the hamb, even the lurkers searching who may have the same problems.
Kinda pointless when you find dead ends .
    How about an update?

    sorry guys ive been busy.
    here is some news.
well i got the car back to the house finally and orderd up some new rear wheel cylinders 75 each for the rears. i put them on and bled the system the pedal is really good and the brakes stop awsome, so i take the car out for a small shake down so i go for a short ride car driving good temp nice and cool so i go back and pick up my girl and we head out to go down by the beach, i get maybe 3 blocks from my house and the the car starts to do the same sway its been doing so i head back home pissed as hell ( thought i fixed it ) so i jack the front of the car up and hear a clunk so i grab the drivers side wheel and give it a shake nice and tight so im like cool i go over to the p***enger side and the god damn wheel almost fell off the spindle turns out the outter wheel bearings is so badly broken in the drum that the only thing holding the wheel on was the big outter washer and the carter pin i was like wtf i just put the bearings in the car.anyway i got new bearings, race, washer, nut and carter pin im thinking that maybe the bearing was so bad it was makeing the wheel move in and out causing this small drift ..i am so stumped because i just bought the bearings before i put the car together and never drivin it i cant understand that bearing beeing that damaged .it was so broken that i had to scoop all the steel out of the drum hub.so hopefully ill have good news soon..thanks for beeing patient

  13. Lowrods, I've had a new bearing disintegrate like that but only once. Never could figure out the exact culprit. 1 ton van with about 80k. Got just over 100 miles and the wheel fell off. Went from no noise to "what the hell is that " to shimmy to wheel off in less than 30 seconds.
It was an inferior brand bearing and I found some chunks of casting sand inside the rotor hub. Some chunks were loose and some were still stuck on the walls of the hub. With a needle scaler the rest came off but you couldn't tell it was there.

So did the wheel falling off bust the chunks loose or did changing the races bust some loose or did the bearing just fail? Don't know but I always scale the inside and use superior bearings.

Something to look at Fwiw. Good luck.
