Event Coverage K.K.O.A - Salina in July...Who's Going?

I just talked to Devona and she confirmed that Conway was not able to attend the
event. I'm really looking forward to checking out the clone. Hopefully I'll get the chance
to see it cruizing the streets. I'm a little bummed about Conway not being there but
I'm already over being it because Jeff Meyers will be there!

I need a place in Salina to park my truck for a couple of days (Wed and Thurs)...can anyone oblige?

 

How about a spot 10 miles outside of town?

 

Just got off of the line with Jerry and he was telling me about this cruize Thursday night.
It will start at 8:00 and by then it will be purrfect for some kool cruizin.

Thursday eve., July 28th, if you're comin' to the Leadsled Spectacular!!! The City of
Salina and the KKOA has tied the knot to have a organized, blocked-off cruise on the
main drag of Salina, known as the legendary Santa Fe Street. This is the street where
all the hotrods and kustoms in the 50's & 60's burned up gallons of gas every single night
trying to impress each other, or kool kats tryin' to pick-up the koolest chick on Santa Fe.
Most of the time Cupid looked more like the "Rat Fink" on my dashboard.

Well start staging at Oakdale Park around 7p, and about 5-tlll-8 we'll pull out and head
three blocks to Santa Fe. Once on, you've got a hour, or until 9p, to look kool in front of
gobs of gawkin' spectators. Like the good ol' daze, you'll cruise up & down Santa Fe,
cuttin'
u-e' at the blockade's, that'll be keepin' the stockers out. There's a Sonic Drive-In at the
south end in case you want to bop in and order up a cherry coke, or double thick shake,
and jump back into the cruisin'. Bottom-line it'll be a great night to remember, and a super
way to crank-start the 31st Leadsled Spectacular. And the best part is it'll only be for
those of us officially entered into the event.

I wish that it was time to go.

Kool!
The Sonic was on the north end of the circuit when I was cruising in the 90's, it is right now being remodeled, but the last time I went through the driveways were passable, some of the lowest of the low may scrape but that's part of the whole deal right?
Looking forward to seeing the folks 'cruising Fe' again!

 

HAMB Meet & Greet will be at noon on Saturday at the Merc Gathering. We will be
giving away Dave Chang / Ben Mitchell's VW Bus. Ben did the art work for the top
of the bus. Ben will be at the show so it will be a great opportunity to get him to
autograph it for ya...Checkout the picture below.



We will give it away right after the group picture...

The Merc has a new gas tank and a liscense plate so I'm ready to scrape.....May
dust off the drag tag and put it back on.

 

Do you want inside or outside parking?? I live about 3 miles from the park.

 

I'll be there also. I am bringing up my 56 Merc 2dr Hardtop and we will be sectioning it 4" during the show.

HELL yeah Ive got AC in the box this year. Maybe my wife will still have a sence of humor when we get there this time.

 

Two of the koolest options that I was running in the Merc was flame throwers
and air condition. Your a lucky man, next year I hope to have AC back in mine.

I'll be there along with "NO-ONES C.C." out of Denver. My first time and certainly wont be the last!

 

I will be there on Thursday.....Driving one of my Chevys out there...most likely the Grapevine.

 

I'll be there Friday afternoon and Saturday, probably in the coupe. I'll have the dragster together but certainly not my Plymouth wagon. I'd like to get a lap or two under my belt in the digger somewhere else first.

Man do I need help, we are on our family vacation and I'm stuck in "DONK"land.

you guys get the cool weather turned on for Salina
so us cooler people can survive

in 1966 i was in San Antonio and volunteered for Nam to get out of the heat my boots stuck to the asphault on 4 the of July marching on the Alamo

well up in the Nord country it is hot humid and mizerable and the crops are a month behind this year , but the weeds are growing good

well wash the car and go to a show today

 

Next weekend? Or two? Stay safe in wagon wheel ville!

 

where is Donk land? i thought i knew the emperor and quite a few pons of that land around here

still have to wet sand and buff my car, resemble and finish up some details. i am looking forward to this drive more and more!!!

 

Looks like we might be going!!! My wife said its our anniversary and she wants to go to the show. I have one of the coolest wives.

 

oh no it is two weeks.... can't be soon enough.

I thought that it was Vicksburg until I got to Mobile, Alabama. Oh my eyes...

Cool it off, my phone said it was 106* there today.
At that rate Salina will smell like Glycol.
I hope it cools off, maybe we will get a "not so Hot front" thru there end of the month.

 

Only 114 with heat index today,... oof! Average for the last weekend of the month is 94 but we've been above that almost every day for a month now. Bring lots of drinks and find a spot in the shade, we'll do just fine.
