I would like to attend as a first timer. I kinda like Columbus day weeked as there isn't usually much going on and a lot of folks can get a extra day. I know the weather in the NE can be any where from 90 and humid to raining or snowing buckets, so that a crap shoot any time after the first couple weeks of Sept.

But dirt is dirt and cars are cars and folks is folks.

Cool idea Larry.................it might be cool as hell to have the cars that are invited to parade in across the track with the crowd there...........there would be one hell of a lot of photo ops.............

Sounds like a winner...The REDLINERS are a regular at both the Showdown and Drags...If it doesn't interfere with the Rally In The Valley, (mid July), the Western Md Street Rod Round-up (Labor day Weekend) and the Drifters Steeltown Showdown, (The first Sat. after Labor day Weekend), we'll be there. That includes Dale Holder's gang from Western PA too...

I like the idea Larry. The Showdown is the only show i attend now days, and as you know it's because of you guy's that we make the journey.
That being said, i, and i'm sure the rest of the crew would make the trip down for it if time allows and you wanted us there! we can be a bit much at times :D:D
As far as being in the infield or not, well, if you wanted my pile of shit in i'll move it where you wanted it, but you know how i am, it usually just sits where i park it when i get there anyway so i'm good either way :)

And for me i don't care when it is, as long as it's not too damn cold to camp! We don't have those fancy streamline campers ya know! hahaha

Good luck with whatever you do man, and you know we will help if we can.

Hey Ed. Before I had a driver's license(early sixties), one of the older kids had a J and we all used to ride around with him. 4-5-6 kids bombing around in the POS.

We found that 50 lbs air in the rear tires would make small burnouts and chirping when shifting.

We thought that was pretty cool. Ain't having fun with a car traditional? Any car. Even a J. That's what you got, it's cool. You havin fun?

I like the idea of a more traditional show, weed out the rocka silly stuff. Love to see the old racers run. Plus even though me and Tony only live 5 minutes away, but it would give me another chance to talk to him. Oh and ask the BBQ people to be there.

After 10 years of Masterminding, Operating, and the attending angst that goes with the Original, never duplicated Jalopy Showdown, you certainly deserve to do one, "the way you want!" Really like the whole premise, the mix of Trad. Rods and Customs, and throwin' in the Vintage race cars! Just wish I could fit in the Barzda, California Speed and Sport Shop #33. Same crew as always, I hope. Count me in, "Boss".

The thought of a Jalopy Showdown two'fer sounds great. The sounds of vintage race cars and vintage rods in the cool Fall air.

A Columbus weekend date would put it the weekend after Hershey. Many, thought not all folks have an off day from work on that Monday. I'm thinking that you want to keep the show on a Saturday but if it's on the Sunday of a 3 day weekend then that might work as well.

Either way we'll do our best to make it as long as work doesn't keep getting in the way like this year

If we can submit photos right here would be cool then you can pm those who you feel fall into the category.

P.S. Here is my submission :D.

  19. I'd attend as a spectator- the combination vintage dirttrack race and by-invitation car show, along with some live music, has alot of merit.

Think "Monterey historics" but on a smaller- funner- scale.

  20. I'd attend regardless of where you'd let me park my ride. I like the September suggestion too, usually real nice that time of year out your way. I have to echo Tony, the Showdown is one of the few events I plan for these days and that is because of the great show that you and the gang do.

Definitely do it after Bonneville and before it snows! :D

I'm kinda digging that weekend after Hershey, but it's wayyy too early to commit to anything. Everybody seems interested enough I will follow up with the museum to see what we can put together. I'll update everyone when I have something.

Oct 15th. I also like your idea for the earlier weekend. I hate to even mention ANY date now because someone will be saying "did you here the new Jalopy Showdown is on 'insert date here'?"...THERE IS NO DATE YET!!!!

The second weekend of October, i.e. Hunnert Car Pile Up weekend.

Larry- As we've talked before I'm down with any event you put on that involves the vintage racing! And if hot rods are there all the better!

Early Sept. is Deadmans Curve and Lead East (which is 4 days I think) in NJ. (I dont think there is a conflict here) Just as an FYI. Although I would not miss The Showdown. And Rumblers in Brooklyn is late August.
