So I got a bunch done over the last couple days but not alot to take pics of. I wet sanded the rest of cab, doors and the visor then got it all buffed and polished.

I taped off the back grill bars an supports and painted the front grill bars with a bright metal finish, Im doing the bumpers an hood center bar also, I didnt go chrome as Im tryin to keep the budget down:eek:

After the tape was pulled off..Im happy with the way it turned out

I also picked up some aircraft stripper and got all the fenders stripped down, then wire wheeled the mud out and cleaned up the fender outside and insides!

That grill looks fantastic! Can you give us any more info on the "bright metal finish" that you used? I'm either broke or about to be broke most of the time, so a budget alternative to chrome would be great to have.

By the way, I am blown away by your '54 Bel Air!! Catch myself staring at your avatar every time you post!

I cant wait for that day:)

Thanks Jim, Im really happy with the turn out!

Thanx Colin...hey is that 54 done yet??;) Lets go buddy!

Ok...so here is the metal finish secret! Home Depot...about 4 bucks,
Rust-Oluem spray can, Bright Coat line, Metalic Finish and the color on side is Aluminum! It helped that I had finished the grill with base/clear coat first then wet sanded it and layed on the rustoleum. The paint lays down quick and you apply it wet then it just settles out nicely! I didnt put clear on it as I thought it may look to silver like and not as much like a metal finish.

    Thanx again

Injured my back so I haven't had much work done on the chevy. Just got back on it by welding in all the new floor panels. Going to start some outer rest spots soon and then hopefully body work it and pain her
I'd love to come by sometime this week and check out the truck in person. The color is great and keeps to that old school feeling. What type of wheels you going for ?

So I didnt feel like starting the body work on fenders today and my back TV room was getting over full with parts. So I started to install the front end today along with bolting down the cab, bed and getting the parking brake all together. Plus I wanted to make sure I had everything so I would have surprises later on. Im super stoked with how the grill looks and how everything is going back together!

Seat frame was taking up alotta room too so its not hurtin anything now that its inplace...Plus Philly The Greek is going to come by this week and stripe the dash for me so Ill throw the lower seat on for him!

You are making huge progress and your work looks great -

I know that this is like picking fly dung out of pepper . . . but not sure about your seat belt anchors - the seat frame is bolted to sheet metal that is spot welded to the floor in back, not sturdy enough to withstand the pull of the belts in a crash.

It's an easy fix Guru if not done already, mine are bolted in the same place and probably what you can't see is metal brackets that attach those points to the floor with anchor points/plates spotted below the cab floor. With his talent I'm sure he has addressed this issue.:)
