So the wife and I have been thinking of getting a car that the whole family can ride in we looked at several cars, and then she saw a picture of a 56 ford and she decided thats what she wanted. We looked on ebay ad the first car that poped up happened to be 30 miles away in my wife's home town. I called the number listed and found out we both knew the seller. We went an looked at it and the deal was struck, and the wife has her first hot rod. It has a 302 and an aod. The302 is weak and I've got a stout 289 that will go good in it. It came with the original rims so they are going back on, along with the fender skirts. She is real excited about it and even got mad at me for going to the junkyard without her:D! Here are 2 pics[IMG]

Oh and the black primer is gonna have to go! She is leaning toward blue with white accents .

Verrrry nice, I love '56 Fords ... it'll definitely look nice with the two-tone treatment.

Nice ... That might look right with a vintage tube grille.

Congrats on your wifes new hotrod ! The 56 was the much better Ford over the 55 . it has the better safety things that Ford started that year . Plus I like the dash set up much better than the 55 Ford .
That 289 will serve her very well with that AOD !
Keep us posted on the updates !

I wish my wife would get with it. I damn neer have to drag her to a show, When i sold my bike i tryed to buy her a 62 galaxie and she did not want it. You got a keeper and the car two.

  21. Mainline, isn't it? Prob' was a six. Had one I put a 352 in, it would do 115, then the lifters would pump up.

Had a set back, the radatior i have is no good so I ordered a new one. Turns out the radatior i had was not for a 56 full size, so now - am. Waiting on a thunder bird rad. The radatior was moved forward by who ever put the 302 in and the stock height wont fit that far forward ! Go figure

Congrats to your wife on getting her first hot rod. Its important to have the support if not the hands on help from the "Better Half". My wife is supportive of my '51 F1 project and so far hasn't batted an eye at the money I've spent. Women like ours are keepers for sure. I'm subscribed and looking forward to your progress. Really dig the '55 &'56 Fords, hope to have one for my next project. Maybe if I give the F1 to the wife...hmmmmm :D

Congrats! I always liked the '56 Ford line and they customize nicely, too.
I especially like the style of the front parking light pods.

    Great score. And yup, she's a keeper.:D

Did you get a better car, or a better girlfriend?:D

  26. Wow, that is bad***, you can't go wrong with a '56 Ford! Do you know how they lowered the car? Also how does it ride? Thanks!

P.S. Thanks for the friend request!

Ok as far as the lowering it seems a little off. The have aluminum blocks in the lower control arms - didnt notice the rear. It does ride and handle ok so maybe I am just splitting hairs. Yesterday morning. I did change out the wheels and tires. I put white steelies with goodyear radails ( with the white stripe ) the wife ordered some full moon caps and it looks great. ( Ok not as nice as some wide white wall bias plys but way cheaper ) I'll post some pics when i get on my home computer.

  28. What do you mean blocks in the control arms?

Your wife has good taste! I love the 55-56 Fords. I just got the last one I brought home yesterday but it doesn't look as good as yours. :D

  30. That still looks like an awesome project. If you ever end up parting with it, I would probably be interested in the doors. Or if you have another set of two door doors, as I wanted to convert my four door.
