Thats cool! Maybe you should post it in the classified section, so many more people will see it than just this Comet thread!:)

Dale;I just got my entry form.No Hot Rod or Exhibition classes this year so if you want to race you need to enter A/FX and hope D F allows you to try and qualify for the 16 car show.In 2009 it took a 10.20 to make the show, don't know what it took last year. You send your entry and money to NHRA then they let D F know,he has the final say on whether you can even show up.You know how I feel about D F !!!!!!! That sounds like a PITA!!

  6. Roy:

That's why you go to Bowling green so you don't have to deal with the DF show. I ended up with over 10 passes in the Hot Rod class! I don't understand why the Bakersfield show doesn't run the same format. It would be an awsome event!!!

I believe your "small group of supporters" might be growing!

I gotta tell ya. This thread took me back 40 years. Now I'm looking for my second '64. I'm still kicking myself that I sold my first one!

Hahaha! So true. You comment got me thinking. I was on the freeway today and started looking for the "jellybean" cars. They were about 70% of the traffic!!! Then we had about 10% non-jellybean cars, roughly 10% pickups and around 10% SUVs.

P.S. This was strictly a non-scientific count on a very short section of freeway, but it did make me laugh to realize how conformist modern cars have become. An old Comet will definitely stand out today.

Fast Eddie;my personal opinion is the CHRR is all about money, period!!!!The racing just gets in the way and the track personnel have to actually work!!!I realise that a track needs to make money in order to stay open but it is getting rediculous. They should just bring in the cackle cars and all the old race cars and drivers/crews and let the party get started!!!!If my Comet had been together I would have been at the NHRR,at least I could have raced my car and not had to worry about it getting set on fire by some drunk/drunks with fireworks!!!! I'm a bit miffed as well, Roy. The ONE class I'd have a chance at running has now been axed. Sad.. I feel our cars fit the genre of what the CHHRis all about, but clearly we are a minority. Bummer. Looks like I'll be becoming a member of the ANRA real soon.....:)

Why I was being stubborn with myself when I was just sitting on my Comet and not doing any work. Didnt want to to the let "the one" go like Ive heard sooo many stories about. So after 12 years, I still have MY first car! :D

    64 Caliente.....4 dr....yeah...i know lol...but its what I was able to get.

First pic is after the first wash, Aug '99, I was 17. Dont mind the rims and helper springs in other pic, have 5 spokes and steelies waiting to go on. Was a 260/3ontheTree, '68 302/'69 Toploader now. Gotta thrash on in it this next week to try and have it done for the Meltdown Drags. Needs front floors/tunnel and some wiring. Getting that "bug" again. I miss cruising around in it...

choppers;you have one lucky son!! That looks like a good solid foundation for a father-son project. It looks like a lot has been done already,I've seen much worse looking wheels,Chrome Cragars look perfect on 64/65 Comets. ROY.

    Congrats!
I'm hoping to get started on mine within the next year, myself. Except mine will be 30x40 or 30x50, depending on concrete quotes.

I like the way they look and they come in the bigger sizes for the older cars

You have the option to get these wheels Black Powder Coated and with the Silver Paint my son wants I think that would be a good combo.:D
