I bought another 50 Ford, the steering wheel is a stranger to me, never saw one like it. 4 spoke, a pic included.
It looks like a rare Crestliner steering wheel. I think they're worth a lot. They might be reproducing them now but I'm not sure. Do a search on Crestliner steering wheel.
It's a 50 ford Crestliner wheel..don't let it go cheap. Take a look on ebay to see what they're selling for...may be more than you paid for the entire car.. BTW, maybe you bought a crestliner? Has....well, I'll just post a photo of my old 50 crestliner...disragard the 51 hood. Crestliners had a factory vinyl top covering also.
You can have the wheel recast for around a grand. New horn button for around 250$, new horn ring (KEEP YOUR SLIDER MECHANISMS YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER SET!!!!!! ) for 100-200. Total investment to make it pristine around 1400-1600$ BUT you will have a rare steering wheel worth around 2800$ They are reproducing this wheel but from what I understand the new ones are made to fit a modern gm style column and might have been reduced in size. This is one of the most sought after steering wheels for early 50s custom cars.
Thanks , thats what it is , but my wheel is not in decent condition at all. It might be a garage wall hanger. lol , Thanks DrB
WOW, thanks, some great info! I need to do some thinking about this. I might post it for sale as is on here later. Thanks to all the reply's DrB
They're reproducing that wheel now.. I forget who and the price, but will probably bring the value down of the originals.....
