So, what do you do with the title? I presume it was titled as a 4 door and would have been licensed the same way. If you were pulled over in another state with a car that has plates issued to a 4 door, how are you going explain it to the local police? Now that these states are looking for more money any way they can get it, I would be concerned.

Looks great, but the title/license thing has me concerned these days. Gene

Amen to that! I wonder how it would look chopped a couple of inches and lowered all around.

My curiosity got the best of me and I had to Photoshop it. Didn't chop it but put the cop car style dog dish hub caps on it and lowered. Chrysler definitely should have offered this in a two door. This would make a hell of a sleeper!

  5. Your build threads are always bitter-sweet for me. Years back I had a chance at a 4 door '56 Chevy wagon, From Oregon I believe. I passed on it, ONLY because it was a 4 door. Now I wish I had bought the damn thing!
The car looks great! I'm VERY impressed!

wouldn't it just be titled as a 'sedan'? my '34 is titled as a coupe. it doesn't differentiate between 3w or 5w coupe.

awesome tranformation. it's gonna be a neat car.

Nice work, especially considering the heat you were working in! WAY more motivation than I've had lately. Makes me consider changing my Buick into a 2dr, but then I think of loading two kids and car seats in the back and the 4dr will have to work.

Looks good, an interesting concept, should get all the instant experts talking, a very rare factory prototype perhaps?

I had a buddy that changed a 55 chevy 4 dr to a 2 dr, cop did ask him on a traffic stop. He had a hundred pictures of the build and showed the cop the entire process, he thought it was quite the deal, told him to have a nice day and my buddy went on his merry way; without a ticket. Your build is looking great any idea on color? I ASSume the quarter glass will be glued in?

Amazing!! I love the 62 and have been looking for a 300 for some time.
Like was mentioned, I will spend a few extra minutes looking at mor-doors that I find.

Oh yeh, keep the pics rollin'.

  14. Will you weld the stainless trim on the quarter panel to make it one piece and not have the break in the trim that would have been at the rear of the back door?

  16. Great work. Good use of a grandma car, beats the Hell out of lame excuses that four doors are suddenly cool.

where's the rest of the 61 Seneca you took the door from? it would be cool to swap the quarters while you are in there and get the funky backwards-ass fins.

What a great use of a rusty donor car! Way to go, building the Chrysler that Chrysler should have built.

Record-breaking heat and humidity today on the day I decided to weld my floor pans in. Oh well, gotta do it some time.

Before pics show what the last guy did, he shoved a sheet of aluminum between the floor pans and the rails, shot it up with expanding foam, then sandwich'd another piece of aluminum on top, drilled the whole thing out and bolted it together with some big long bolts. Not only did it trap moisture and make it much worse than it probably was to begin with, but it was a real bear to get it all cleaned out.

By the time I got it all cut out, there was very little left, and some damage to the floor mounts and substructure that had to be fixed before my new pans could go in. Picture is really shadowy but I couldn't wait for the sun to go down to take a good one, gotta keep moving.

Here they are finished, at least, good enough for now. I beat the beads in using the method outlined on this tech piece, worked out great. No need to buy a bead roller to make floor pans.

The beads don't show up that well in the picture, but they are actually very crisp. I might clean these floors up once more really well and paint them again before carpet goes down just to make sure everything is clean and protected, but they're all in.

Got a little heavy handed with the seam sealer but I don't want it to have leaks. Should have some more updates on the build on Friday night hopefully.

I finished the welding, did a quick bodywork job and painted the passenger side today just so I could see what it was going to look like, as a motivational thing. It looks good, just like what I had pictured when I had started.

I've got some more little detail pics of the progress up to now if anyone cares to see them. I really appreciate all the responses, a lot of this stuff would go unnoticed if I didn't have a place to post pictures and tell the story. Makes it a lot more fun that way.
