Yes BEAUTIFUL!! I you were to research on 1940's customs. you would see this is the proper stance for this car. Im sure this car is running 16 inch rims also. Most people are use to see these laying on the ground. roddinron. sorry im not trying to be a dick. im just saying if you look at these cars from back in the day. they weren't all slammed low. Puss not a lot of guys wanted to get harassed by the cops for being really low.
Looking better all the time Clark. It may not look like it but this car (like all Clark's cars) gets the tires driven off it all the time, even pushed to its limits in hill climb events and just recently completed a tour round europe taking in some mountain scenery and apparently not hanging around either.
WOW!! I love these Customs from that Period. I bought one, almost period correct, built by a guy in the Rockford Illinois area in the 80's (I believe). A '40 Dlx Ford Convert with a Custom Carson Style Top on it. He had a few things wrong though. Had the Aluminum "Briz" bumpers on it, not bad, but not steel '37 Desoto's which I then shaved and chromed and installed on her. It was 4" higher, which just wouldn't work in my book, so I reworked the suspension and got her in the "TailDragin" stance it needed to be in. It had a big "OLds" engine and Louvered hood and Chrome Garnish moldings, '41 Buick style Steel Teardrop Bubble Skirts, '53 Caddy Custom Caps, Appleton Spots, '39 Banjo Wheel, White 1" Tuck & Roll with Blue piping and NO AIR> That was the reason he sold it, his wife wanted Air and he wouldn't do it. I never did either, even though we drove it everywhere, (just wouldn't have been right). Anyway, it was an old Ford Truck Blue color that I really liked. I wonder if these six tailpipes that were coming out were influenced from the Tucker's ? Or maybe the other way around ?
Here is another great sample of a 33-34 Ford that is done as a Custom. And I still don't understand why we done see more of these cars done this way. They look so good as customs. This one from the Tom Nielsen Collection has the stock rear fenders replace with 1936 Ford units, to get the back of the car lower for the perfect stance. The much rounder look of the rear fenders fits perfectly with the shape of the back of the 34 Ford 5-window body.... The car was from Everett WA.
I thought there was another photo of this car from the back. a straight rear shot. that way we can see the tag on the plate. its cool as hell.
