Thank you so kindly for identifying that one 55 Nomad.
I kept thinking this was possibly Bob Amos in Mickey Cox jr fueler, but this didn't look like a Desoto motor. It was driving me crazy with bifocals and this screen.

Allreds 37 Chevy was a favorite of mine. Tunnel rammed 427 put the car into the high 9's. Car would launch bringing up the front end as it proceeded to skate down the track.

Thanks for posting the facts 55Nomad, I didn't post them here because they are after the 1968 cut-off period, and they usually remove the pics I post because they are too new!!
Dennis, the J&C shot and the Pulver shots are mine, the Freedom Machine shot with Don driving is a P Wasilewski shot

I wish I had been smart enough to have taken some pictures somehow back when I used to frequent the old Houston strip outside of Dickinson. I recall the 2 or 3 guys from Pasadena who all ran Falcon station wagons, one was the Pie Wagon, (maybe?) You might have also raced with another local guy, Jimmy Zieger, who ran an Anglia named the Frito Bandito. I didn't even own a camera then and sure missed out on a lot opportunities for good racing pics while there. Gasser meets, early Pro Stock match races, etc.

BlueHellWrench,, I have emailed her, but no answer yet, and I didnt write down the info on her father, figured I could ask further questions via email, so, waiting to hear back, she lives in the Monterey area, If it helps, her ancestry is Native American. Sorry for lack of info.

Yes, Allred's car was featured in PHR about that time. It ran B/Gas. He later took the motor out, plopped it in a 70 Camaro and ran pro stock.

Richard Schroeder ran a green 68-70 Nova wheelstander I remember seeing at Seattle, he and Shrewsberry put on a show that brought down the house. Any photos out there?

The thing I remember most about Richard, other than all of his cars being immaculate, was that he was one BIG sumbitch!;):D

Here ya go Dave, pre "Ansen".... Kent Fuller's chassis, one of Z's killer motors, and Prudhomme driving, made for a pretty stout combo while it lasted.
(knew I had this stored somewhere, my files look like Fibber McGee's closet.)

  22. The average income in 1960 was $5,600.00 bucks! So it's not as cheap as it seems!

This reminds me of a Quote I read but can remember who said it.

"The price of racing hasent gone up in 20 years, back then it cost you everything you had, and it still does."

  30. That's so they could get more "roll" thru the lights before Red Lighting. Guy I knew even had offset front spindles (one center line ahead of the other) for this purpose.
