    Will have some video to share in a couple days. Other wise what a great F---"KING" show. Great Cars, people, Hotrod Races, Bands and Burlesque. To top it all off our club was able to hold on to the coveted "King of Clubs" (Steet Class) trophy for the third year in a row. A big Thanks to the Lifters CC for putting on such a cool event. This was my first KOC! My family and I had a great time. There was such a cool laid back vibe throughout the whole event. Great job Lifters! I'm already stoked for next year! Cheers from Yuma!

    Matt, we watched that race from the back of my truck.

    Damn, he smoked the tires half way down the track and looked like he was going to hit the wall. Fun to watch...

    My top hat off for Marky and Hudson Joe, they showed up friday so I got them a pit area, I went looking for them later to invite them to dinner and party with them, they told me " thanks but we have to work on our cars " with limited tools , no pit crew or club members to help them out, they wrench all night, Marky finaly got that poncho motor just right, and thats no easy feat, especialy with all those 97's , poncho motors are tempermental, run hot , and are easy to scatter, but you get them just right , they can deliver some serious horsepower, that motor smoked the hides all the way down the track, traditional slicks look cool , but that car with some rear balast, some wrinkle wall slicks could kick some serious ass, Marky did'nt have the fuel to do some test pases so he was unfamiliar with the track, as it is ,alterds are scary cars to run with their short wheel base, especialy marky's that more motor than car, but yet he had the balls to run that thing, In my book , he won the hombre award, hudson Joe did well too, if he had'ent red light, he might have won the flathead class, Dale was stoked to race Marky, he told me " never in my wildest dreams , did I ever think I would get the chance to race the purple people eater , this made my day!" I am proad to have Marky and hudson Joe as my friends , for they won the trophy for effort, thanks Jason for filming this , so everyone can share the moment.

    Thanks for such a great show as always! I hope I get a chance to run down this track in a few years. Neat to see those cars go at it! And I hope to see more of the purple people eater. Whats a rush that car must be. Thanks again!

    This was talked about in a separate thread. But I guess Marky did not see the water box(he can't see much of anything from the seat of the PPE) or know to drive around it. So he never knew to do a burnout. Hence why he didn't hook up till half way down the track. But when he did, he hooked up good. So I wouldn't be so quick to blame the Hurst slicks.

    I would really like to see some footage of the PPE with a nice clean run; where he hooks it up off the line. Great stuff.

    Yeah, Marky's got some grapes keepin his foot in it on that pass. You can see from the vid shot from the rear that I almost put it in the wall when I launched...

    For the pass with the PPE, I was fresh off the trailer, just got tech'd. Stood 30 mins waitin' for the drivers meeting, ran back to the pits to get my low-pressure gauge and they're hollerin' for me. I didn't even get to air down my slicks- that was the first pass I've ever made on 25 lbs of air (usually 9) and riding on the crowns of the slicks. Felt really weird. I was stoked regardless, I've wanted to line up next to that car since I first saw it up in paso in like '03 or '04..? Gasser vs. Revelle model- priceless

    Anyway, here's the first pass of Butch kickin' my ass. I worked him outta the hole, one motherf-er of a launch, but the Grocery getter fell on it's ass thru the lites... he came past me like I was sittin still...

    Squeek is the gray beard in the shifters , but was not able to come out this year , or his other fellow club members, Hudson Joe was busy racing himself, Marky did'nt have enough race fuel to do a practice pass and get familiar with the track, but despite all odds , he had the courage to represent his club, and even after almost hitting the k-rail , he kept his foot on the gas and gave us a great show, that car is really scary to drive, let alone race, so once again my top hat off for the guy. Drag racing though it looks simple, is a very complicated sport, and besides the driver and the car,it requires team work on prepping the car and getting it to the stagging lane.

    I was kinda waiting for pictures of the award cerimonies before I posted this years winners , so here it goes;
    King of Clubs (street class) goes for the third year in a row to the Cat Killersc.c. but this year Mat Mauldin pull it off with a 7.56
    Flat head class; once again the Bean Bandits win for the fourth year in a row, Derby Patterson pulled it off for them .
    Vintage Bike Class , this years winner was Jarod Eubanks with his 70 sazuki
    El mas Chingon ( full race Class) Lifters c.c. Butch Caltins won again for the secound year in a row.
    AFX class Mitch Akers won this class with his 60 impala,

    Car Show Winners;
    Best Custom , Mark Sanchez 1950 chevy
    Best Hot Rod, Justin Hererra 1926 model
    Old Scool Rodz " Queen of Clubs , Mike Van Zetten memorial award for best traditional hot rod " Jim Evans 1930 ford coupe

    The real winner this year was drag racing it self, more racers than ever and the bleachers were packed, our club's intention for the show has always been to promote drag racing to a younger generation , and we are happy to anounce that we are achieving this goal, the show has been growing in leaps and bounds and most importantly, every year they are more guys involved in the racing aspect of the show. This is important because more and more race tracks get shut down and bought out by Land Developers, who in the end will kill this historic sport.
