Okay, just looked at almost every page in this thread. Has to be my favorite thread. Can anyone do mine? I would like to lower it eventually or maybe just drop the back..maybe some wide whites with bullets centers, different color with scallops maybe, or whatever you feel like doing to it. Thanks in advance guys

Here’s something I can’t get out of my head lately: The 1958-1960 Ford cab seems to have perfect lines to go with a ‘70s Class C motorhome body. Toss in a 1961 Shasta travel trailer color scheme, and I think you’d really have something.

Anyone care to give that a shot?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Do you have a full picture of the motorhome from the same angle as the F-100?

Unfortunately, the time I spent combing Google Images couldn’t match the angle any better than that. I’ll try to find an F350 that matches the angle better, as that’s probably the best motorhome picture I could find, but old Ford images were more available.

How's this? I know it's a little distorted, especially above the cab, but it should give you some idea what it would look like.

Woha, I love it! I really want to do this now.

I think this idea would work equally well with a '58-'60 Ford, '60-'66 Chevrolet/GMC, or '58-'60 Dodge.

Im looking for wheels, I would love some torque thrusts, old style. I am using my 27's rear wheels for a short time for the rear and they look great. A set of stockers with WIDE white walls would be cool but I cant decide on what color to paint the steelies. I guess the hardest part is finding a set of skinny wheels because of no power steering I want a 6 in wide front wheel to help me out.

I painted the spear like you chopped for me a few weeks ago, havent gotten to the cab yet.

That looks really good. I'm envisioning red steelies with Moon discs on the front with wide whites. That with the mags on the back is a look I've seen on some early gassers.

How wide are the wagon wheels? Are they narrow enough you could just paint them red and cover them with the Moon discs?

They are 8 in wide. The truck came with a set of 5 lug in the back and 6 lug in the front matched wagon wheels. I didnt even notice until I got it home... I have to use the rear wheels on the car in my avatar. Its torn apart so I robbed the wheels for a little while. I thought about Moons but they cost as much as a set of steelies.

Could you re-drill the front hubs to five lug? Caprice steelies aren't super easy to find (I just got a set after a decade of looking), but they're not impossible if you make a concerted effort and aren't a total cheapskate like me.

Otherwise, that six-lug pattern is still used on 4x4 GM trucks, and goes back to the 1930s on Chevrolet passenger cars, although the center-register holes may be larger on the 4x4 wheels.
