Purely selfish, but seeing this car on the salt would be over the top for me! If you reply to this right away, I'll know you're not weldin' or grindin' schitt!

i still have to do something with this . a roadster body is shorter than a sedan in hidth buy almost 2". i chose to keep the sedan body hidth for more room in the car. the roadster cowl will need to be extended some. that is next. the doors are swinging and latching. hope to make more progress tomorrow. that is if my wife doesnt get mad that she doesnt see me. haha.

The cowl detail you're mapping out and the transition to the hood sides, is another drawing detail that I'm glad to see. The louvers in the back panel are super cool!

Yeah, gotta keep the wife happy.....

i think i will leave the car in red primer for now. i will be making an aluminum hood. the hood i will keep unpainted . i like the look of red primer and aluminum. i just dont know what color to paint it later????? jeem your drawling looked to me like primer or maybe a brown or redish color?

Thank God you pointed that out. I was struggling with figuring out what the sharpie lines were there for. I then referred to the drawing and understood.. So you plan to make this exactly just like the drawing, smaller details and all (well, aside from the windshield)? That's cool, man.

Very cool build! I have thought about doing this to a 27 T sedan body I have and this might inspire me to start on it.

i left the front of the frame untapered till i figure out how to do the transsition on the cowl. once that is done, then i will taper the frame to the front x member. then will be the hood.

here is the license plate i have been working on. i have been wanting a 28 ohio plate but i couldnt find anything i like so i made the plate say what i wanted it to. i hammered and reshaped each number to the leter i wanted . i would like to thank my dad for teaching me how to do this time consuming work. my dad used to make licenses plats for a model a collectore here in town 20 years ago. he still had all his old tool for hammering and reshaping the numbers. here is the pics

lol. no the tooling is all home made. and yes this is illegal to do .this license plate will only be run on the car at car shows, driven to work, going on trips to bonneville, and will probabily be on the car when i get pulled over for having the plate on the car. kids dont try this at home. i do all my own stunts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy ****... I had respect for your incredible build skills already but this is just over the top! Nothing like taking the time to build the details as carefully and thoughtfully as you built the car! Too cool man!

    The license plates are fantastic!!

I wanted to ask you how you solved a problem with the doors. I was moving stuff around in the garage and kind of tinkering with my A looking at what I would need to do and noticed that the door hinge holes on the door take up all the space on the jamb area. I noticed that if I were to slim down the door so it doesn't appear so thick from the top view then I would have to make a new door hinge hole pattern on the door hinge along with the door jamb.

How'd you get around this if you had the same problem? The way I see it, however you cut the door jamb is up to you, whether it be down the middle in between the holes so you preserve the original holes or if you cut the holes off and drill 2 more out in the middle area of the door jamb. The door hinge solution kind of makes sense to me if you just cut the end of the hinge that goes through the door and drill 2 more out in the middle area to match the door.

Do you think doing this will compromise the strength of the door jamb on the door as the load isn't as spread out as if it were stock? I would think not since the window mechanism and gl*** are out of the equation.

Sorry to bug you with a couple questions.. Your project has some similarities to mine and I can only hope mine turns out as good as yours is right now.

well i used a roadster cowl. i had roadster hinges i scored for 15.00. i mounted them to the roadster cowl in the original place. then i made them fit the sedan doors. i had to fill the opening left over from the sedan hinges. you may see this in some of the pics of the door . if you are using a sedan cowl i would just leave the hinges in the og place. the are welded or rivoted to the door. i dont think that the sedan hinges are weldable if my memory serves me correctly. hope this helps . more pics soon. i finished up a gas tank i had been working on and got it mounted.

I'm building a coupster. If I'm not mistaken, doors on the '28-'29 coupes and sedans interchange?

The hinges on my doors were just screwed in which I was able to drill out and preserve the hinges. Hmm.. This sounds like something I'll just have to figure out myself when I get to that fork in the road.

    Thanks for the quick response.

here are pics of the fuel tank i made and the radiator mounted. the radiator is a speedway lowboy radiator. it is the only one that would fit.

i hate to say it but i am not going to be able to go to bonneville speedweek this year. i will not have the car done in time. i am kind of burnt out. we have been super busy in our shop and on the side i have been building the renault , the 32 kopper krate and this tub and i have everything in my shop packed in. working 10 - 14 hrs aday is just crazey. now i will continue work on the tub and i will post pics up as i go but time to slow up abit. that is the problem when you do what you love for work and a hobbuy it is hard to draw the line. i need to get the renault out and then focus on the tub. i may have it out this fall. just wait for 2012 bonneville speed week. the "mo money then time" tub will be there . driven from cincy to wendover! seeya on the salt in 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
