its a Aussie 250 crossflow with an alloy head. thers quite a bit of work been done to it. Turbo is a Holset H1C from a Cummins truck engine. the carb in the picture is my old 600dp modified for blow thru. i now have a Quick Fuel carb on there

Thanks Gravelrash - any numbers? Dyno or qtr mile (or even lap times?)? Got a pic of the exhaust manifold? I'm a bit of a carby turbo fan...

as far as space goes i prob should have done the xflow years ago but i loved the 2v.the problem i had with the 2v was the extra weight of the turbo hanging off the manifold it would always blow out the exhaust gasket on number 3&4 port. if i was going to reinvent the 2v head i would drill and tap another hole and have 4 bolts on that port rather than the 3. i do miss the 2v in there but i just wanted to be able to drive it more often than i did.
Its had a photoshoot for a magazine with the 2v in place.

the old engine

Here's mine
1970 XW Falcon GT, 351C 4V small chamber heads, close-ratio Top Loader. It's not a gem, but it is genuine.
By 1970, Falcon was a stinker in the States, but here in Australia, they were just getting hotter by the year.
Think Boss Mustang, Z28 or AAR - raced 'em near stone stock around silly circuits on skinny stock tyres.
Not a hot rod, I know, not even HAMB-friendly, but someone else started this Falcon thread

Edit: Found it! The pictures are gone, but flt-blk is still around, I think, so maybe he could dig them up for you.

I am certain that sometime in the past decade I saw somebody post a how-to on fabricating spider caps. Not sure how you’d find that thread, though, unless it’s in the Tech-o-Matic.

Good luck, it is a great look.

^^ dunno, those on the aussie flacon look like bullet lugs and a push through bullet.
Although there were 4 lug spiders made in the 60s/70s.
They are pretty rare, i'd love a set or 2 as well.

Thats only been the second time ive seen them and they were made, would be nice to find a pair of them though. 4 lug bolt patters are tough to work with

I'm pretty sure you live just around the corner from me. I've got the dirty '64 four door you may have seen around town.

Yeah the gold one. Cool. Did you used to have a big-block '80s Caprice, too? If so, we've spoken a few times, but I thought you'd moved.

In any case, drop by some time.

oh no, i still have the ole' caprice, just sort of hibernating right now.
and i'm still right around the corner on gibbs st. You going to Big Boy this friday?

-Josh

Anyway, I'm just starting out on this 64 Futura. I just dropped a 1969 200 L6 in place of the170 that would've come in it. i wanna do 14's and WWW's, a modest drop, and i just tracked down a 250 to build up this winter. I haven't decided if i wanna replace the 2-spd air cooled ford-o-matic with a stout c4, or go ahead and convert it over to a t-5. hell, i might even "restore" it someday!

Cool. Good to connect with you again. I’ll try to make it to Big Boy on Friday. My wife hasn’t been feeling good lately, so it’s been tough to get out much.

Speaking of my wife, I think my wife and your wife knew each other in high school.

If you’re going to stay automatic, the 250 could be a good choice if it’s the later one that uses the SBF-style bellhousing - you could fit an AOD. Otherwise, the 200 is seemingly the preferred motor with Falcon Six guys. I’ve got a ‘65 Mustang 200 sitting in my garage waiting for the right time to replace the 170 in my car.

The Ford Falcon Six Cylinder Performance Handbook is a great resource if you don’t already have it. I’ll try to have mine at Big Boy Friday so you can check it out.
