I especially like adds that state "runs great, cylinder heads are off." or "runs great, no motor or trans." WTF?!

Guy pulls into the local cruise in in a white Lamborghini Countach. Gets out and starts bragging to the quickly growing crowd about how fast it is, how great it handles, how much it cost, blah, blah, blah. Really playing it up.

I do a quick walk around, and when he stops to take a breath, I say "It's a kit car."

He gets very defenseive. He points to the emblem on the front of the car and says "NO IT ISN'T! SEE THiS? THE KIT CARS AREN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE REAL LAMBORGHINI BADGES!!!!"

I pointed to the inside of the car and said "And real Lamborghinis aren't allowed to have Fiero dashboards." And walked away, hearing a chorus of chuckles as I left.

A guy here used to have a '72 Monte Carlo, said it was so 'bad' that when it 'kicked down into passing gear the back tires spun backwards'!?!?!?!?

That's the third time this story has showed up in this thread over the last couple of years...with a slightly different punchline every time.

  8. I wish I had a dollar for all the times I heard about a 69 Camaro with small block and street tires that would pull the wheels coke bottle high in a parking lot. Funniest one was trying to buy some parts at a car show, and the guy told me the Camaro guy had offered him X dollars for the stuff. Reached in my pocket and gave him my business card and he realized I was the guy he was referring to. Fun to watch his face turn red. I think he was the brother in law of the guy who claimed his brother in law had a Charger with a 440 hemi. :D

I think there were quite a few Fiero-based kit cars. My neighbors had one about twenty years ago, but they never claimed it was anything other than a kit car built on a Fiero.

I was at a car show and looking at this super hack job model A coupe with a 351C in it. My dad and I were just standing there looking at it because it had so many f-ed up things on it. The guy comes over and says "hows it going". Not to be rude we said "good, you", "nice car". We noticed that the harmonic ballancer was strange so I asked him "whats up with your harmonic ballancer, is that an aftermarket one?". He looked at us toatally confused but in a way you could tell he didnt want us to know he had no idea what we were talking about. He replyed with "well I dont know what you are talking about, If you point to it I can tell you what it is and answer your question". My Dad and I just looked at eachother in a way that said "what the f#$k, lets get out of here!".

I sold a Harley to a guy a number of years ago and saw him and the bike a short time later and he had a group of guys around that he was telling them about all the changes, mods, custom work, time etc. he had put into the bike all true but not by him! He hadn't noticed me so I just said "Hi", it was worth it to see the expression on his face and the color of his face, lots of the group noticed and it was worth while to see him squirm like the worm he was. I have seen lots of these "mooks" taking credit for stuff they didn't do or have memories of events they weren't at. Pityfull really.

When i was in school there was this dork who was a self described motorhead. He told me his torino had nos! when i checked it out he had run his wiper pump hoses up into his carb and he would fill the washer tank with ether!

And what about all the guys with 150 shot nos that brake the tires loose and do wheelies when they hit the button! THANK YOU fast and furious!

At my last job I was sitting around shooting the bull with a bunch of guys and the "know it all" of the group walks up and joins in. He starts out with "Hey, I just got through with some mods to my truck" I say, yeah, what kinds? He says, "I put a new ring and pinion in the transmission, man does it hook up now!" We all fell out of our chairs laughing.

A friend here fabbed up a cover over his carb out of sheet aluminum. he put some plumbing on it a some gauges and a sticker that says "fool injection" I actually witnessed two guys argue about what type of fuel injection it was. one said "that has to be a Holley injection system because my dad had one just like it back in the day. hahaha. My buddy also took an old extinguisher bottlw, painted it blue and put a label on it that says NOS but in small print it says "not original shit".

I was selling a 55 Chevy body several years back (1990) for $1000. I sold it to the first caller. The second caller was disappointed he didn't get the car. He told me on the phone, "You know, they don't make them anymore!"

I had my neighbor come over today while Rock (woodywagon1965r) was over changing some tires. He started in about his 185mph 87 Mustang Cobra :D

Sorry Rock, I am used to it....lol.

  23. There's a guy running around here with one of those Fiero-based Lamborghini kit cars telling everyone it's real. I can't wait to meet up with him face to face with a crowd around him so I can pull that joke on him.

I've seen a few making over 1200 ponies to the ass end. Lots of money but they can be scary fast.

There was this guy hanging around, I can't remember his name other than the "motormouth" nick name he was given cause no matter what he knew something or some one better...A couple of the guys were discussing for him to hear how impossible it was to get a camshaft..Of course he knew someone at Deb's and volunteered to research..So the guys sent him off to find a camshaft for an Articat Snowmobile...Don't remember if he ever showed up again..

"If you use Slick 50 yearly, your car will run forever!" I wonder how that worked out?

Well, for one thing, Supra production stopped in '02, so I highly doubt he has an '04, unless they continued production in Japan and didn't tell the Americans.

Secondly, the 2JZ is a very buildable platform, and like it's been mentioned, are known to go well above 1000hp at the wheels.

Here's a couple videos you probably won't care anything about:
