LowCat, I know I'm gonna kick myself, but what the heck is
this car? If it's a Bantam, I can't recognize it from the rear.
And I can't make out the spare-tire hubcap.

The hubcap on the spare tire looks to read "Simca".

  19. Absolutely amazing! This is my hometown, Texas City, Tx in the 60's. Just goes to show; you never know what will show up on the HAMB!!

The "Showboat" movie house had a tall tower that housed a radio station and actually broadcast from there, it was KTLW and used the handle "Katy-Lew", a country station. Visible is the cable that I guess had to do with broadcasting.

That entire block on the right has been razed and a small "replica" of the Showboat is there and is used for special events. The rest of the buildings exist in the most part.

  20. It's a shame that whole block is almost vacant now, stores shut down and windows boarded up.

  22. Simca was a French auto, founded by Fiat.

In one issue , they had a story entitled : Houston, the Eraseable City. Saddly, I read all about my beloved former home on Houston Archecture.com . scrubba

Thanks, EVERYBODY, for noodling that out. I thought the capital letters might say SIMCA, but that left three lower-case letters unreadable. Still don't know about that, but at least we know the MAKE.:)

I THINK I see a '55 Chevy at the end of that row, so it could be '53-'55. pretty cool, someone used to actually drive them.
