I changed it to 5 lug already, stock drums from a 51-54 car are a bolt on conversion.

I called a yard close to me but they are lazy, they wont pull the wheels without the old mans say so. I have had a hard time finding stock chevy car wheels around here. or a set of Mags that are thinner and not $1000!

What color steelies would look good? I have almost given up on the mags for now, unless I decide to buy new ones some day down the road. I wish I could lower it that much! Right now it bottoms out on the frame...

I guess I misunderstood your problem.

That's easy. Black steelies look good on everything with whitewalls. White steelies look good on everything with blackwalls.

Spider caps and dog dish hubcaps are equally appealing, although the former have more of a custom look and may be what you want on an old pickup to say "this is a hot rod/custom".

That looks great! I wanted red wheels but you know the red wheel police around here...

Did you lower just the front in that last pic? I like that stance, I want a nice stock looking wood bed so I cant go much lower than I am now in the back. But a drop axle in the front could get it close to that look!

I scored a set of steel 15x6 wheels from a 70 impala today, a little different but they should look OK with spider caps.

    Thanks

The rear I did not change I just dropped the front a wee bit. I think it looks just about rite at that stance.

    LMAO!

Notice how the Brazilian box is smoother, making it more appealing to a lot of us!

It just occurred to me... it has a box cover... with little strings to secure it!

Now that is a great way to protect your box!

    I love this thread! :D

Enough about truck parts, I asked a while back if anyone has the guts. skills or is Brazilian enough to de-rust my truck, I am still curious what it would look like and doing it to the real thing is a long way off because to get it good enough to make nice on the outside will require me fixing a lot of the 60-70 year old bad body work and lead work and damage.

There are photos of it in my album if anyone wants to give it a shot!

  14. Well now you're making it sound like some kind of a chastity belt....

Interesting car, what is it? I'm guessing an old Mopar.

This is such an elegant car, I don´t think you could do much better than just to restore it, lower it and add some (slightly larger? 15"?) Chrysler wire wheels. There´s really nothing much that you can add, or remove that makes it better. I found a better pic, in what even appears to be your colours, so I used that.

Seems to be a `53 Chrysler Town and Country, give or take a year.

I'll second that. And unlike so many Chrysler products of the era, the roof height is spot-on, from the factory. Looks just ever-so-slightly chopped; very elegant indeed.

If I were forced to customize, I'd opt for a genuine woodie conversion, in keeping with the Town & Country theme.

I think the coachbuilder Derham of Rosemont, PA actually did some like that in the fifties. Derham did many Chrysler product customizations post WWII for their conservative Philadelphia clientele.

1952 T&C. i've had it for a year and it's just been in my garage. has the 331 HEMI Fire Power (stuck). what i really need to do is pull it out and take a lot of pictures. never did that after it was delivered.

i've seen that picture before. trying to remember if that's the one that sold for $60+K at an auction just a handful of years ago and then for a little over half of that the next year.

agree with the "chopped" look straight from the factory.

i was in the market for a 53/54 chevy wagon when i stumbled across this on eBay. turned out, the guy was less than an hour from me. he had 3 or 4 cars and 5 different properties to sell before he had to move out of state.

The steel wheels fell through due to them boing the wrong size...
Could you shop some Moons on here for me? Large disks that cover everything. Maybe some with white walls and without?

    Thanks guys.

With the length of the fins that will not fit very well... how about 1960 Plymouth? their taller and not as long.

I had a crack at this at lunchtime and I think they fins and lights are rather a lot larger than this /\.
It really didn´t fit well with the rest of the truck either. Maybe with a totally custom bed - more of a fleetside look, with the bed more integrated, and a totally restyled nose, it could work.

Anyone feel like photo-shopping our new ride? And maybe settle an argument with the wife. I had 3 color choices medium blue suede with a cream firewall & dash. Or medium burgundy with cream firewall & dash. Also need to get rid of the muscle car wheels & we are going with cream wires. We will be putting on a stock louvered hood & I'm not sure if you can do this but I was thinking a potters trunk. Don't know if it will look okay with the trunk because its chopped. I'd like to see it in these colors because the wife wants all black suede. I personally think black suede is over done but that's my hangup. Any help would be appreciated. By the way the running boards are going to stay black because they are covered with rubber.
