Well its only a pick up truck cab and funny rolling ch***is but still $500, i bought it of an online auction (not ebay) i was surprised it went as cheap as it did.

Its sitting on a 46 ford truck frame that the x member and front member have been removed from and its been squeezed a little narrow at the front, then someone drilled some holes in the front parallel leaf axle and bolted some 40 bones there, the axle is complete with 42-48 square back spindles and juice brakes, it also has a 40 ford rear end just wire tied in, and then a set of 35 wires are bolted to them. I consider all the suspension stuff above as a bonus anyways.

My plans are to maybe take the frame and shorten it up a bunch, sweep the rails in the front some, narrow the frame all the way thru, put a dropped axle front end in it with a flat front crossmember and put a square tube rear crossmember in it also.

then maybe stick a sbc or a nailhead in it with an adpator to a 39 ish trasn and shorten up the torque tube rear end.

Man...that's a deal. Plus it's "down-sized". (isn't that the new politically correct term for chopped top?)
    Seriously good deal there. Kudos.

Jeff...How the hell do you come up with these deals??? I admit my last 32 ford cab was only $350 but that was before vintage tin prices went through the roof. Congrats and good luck finding doors. I usta have a great source for doors etc but the ol' guy died and all his stuff was auctioned off...I bought some of it but am out of doors..
    Nice score!

thats just the way i got it. it will look a hell of alot different when i get done with it.

Too much internet surfing! Jens 32 pick up was bought for $350 about 6 years ago, and was missing a door, but thats when they were obtainable, luckily this one has doors or i probably wouldnt have bid on it!

Good buy, looks like you saved it from being one of those little 4-legged creatures with a tail.

  9. Jeff,
That is actually a pretty cool find. There is an option that you can do ch***is wise that is moderately cheap. Find yourself a model BB ch***is I believe that is correect. it would be the ton + ch***is from that era. They are fairly cheap usually. They are a little thicker and of course longer than the stock pickup ch***is but can be cut down and made to look correct.

Anyway whatever you do it will come out just the way you want it, right?

You are a lucky man I only really don't like you now. If it were more complete I would actually hate you. :D

So i unloaded it and couldnt help playing with it a bit, did some measuring on it, put the rear end about where it goes, slid the cab back so the wheel base to the rear tires was about where i think it should be, did some motor measurements and drew a line where i figure the front axle should be place, cut abut a foot off the front of the frame rails and slid the front end where i think it should be, raised the back of the cab cause it was sagging a bit in the rear and its better, the rear end is gonna come up some more with the correct size tires, and the front should stay about the same, im thinking i may put a flathead in it too.

Its not a 32 frame unfortunatly, its a 48 frame, worthless basically!

i got my 32 fiver for $1000, it had "for sale $100" on the belt line, ****!

I took the whole thing apart, got the frame cut up, got the rear crossmember sunk into the frame, got all the measurements figured out on it, narrowed the rear up a bit, narrowed it at the cowl and had to widen the front of the rails for the grille shell, got it all squared up and tacked together, just need to put in the front crossmember, then i can make it roll again.

Would love to see some updates on this. I'm buying a project with a 48' car frame. Hoping for the same look. Trying to wrap my young head around this. Thanks in advance.
