Here are some pics of a car that is part of an erosion control effort down in the bottom of my horse pasture. I think it's a '34 or '35 Hudson. It's been there for probably 50 years. I'd ask the owner of the place if I could dig it out but even in Colorado's dry climate I'm afraid there wouldn't be much left below the ground.
Actually it is not a fat fendered car. I would dig it out anyway you might be surprised what still may be there.
I'd say dig it out, even if it is completely rusted away all you will be out is a bit of exercise out in the fresh air and a few hours of your time. There used to be a lot of those along the creek banks up here a few miles from the house but I think that they all rusted away years ago.
There looks like there's another car behind it. How many cars did you see out there? You ought to try digging down a few feet down to see how the metal looks to get an idea of what the car looks like.
Looking closely at those pictures you can see that it would be a huge job getting them out, they are piled full of big rocks ! And yes, it looks like a row of cars all along there, look closely there may even be a deuce hiding out there somewhere.
At least those cars are serving (or served) a purpose! Lots of good iron is rotting away in garages, sheds, carports etc. while waiting patiently for the owner to get his ass in gear and build it.
The other cars behind it are '50's Fords. Doesn't look like anything else special. I just noticed the front and rear suicide doors plus the dual sidemounts and wondered what it was. The doors look fairly solid but I only dug down about a foot. The front fenders are still there. Yeah, I guess they're more open than fat but no hood . I'm sure the frame is under there holding it all together. THose rocks might be a good thing since the body wasn't filled with dirt, just rocks, Might keep it drier in there.
Might as well start digging. There have been several threads on here about buried cars. Some of the ones that were dug up, didn't look too bad.
Start digging on the driver side down deep enough to open the door, then just remove the rocks! Easy!!
You guys are right. It's not buried too deep. A couple hours of spade work should uncover it. I am going to ask him about selling it. After all, it's just going to waste there. Might be a fun project or trading material. Like I need one more project.
And look a little more closely too, the car directly behind it is most definitely a 30s car of some kind.
I think it would be more work to get all the rocks out than the digging part. be sure to bring some heavy gloves with you.
