As for Bob Hightower, I got to see him at my first major event, the 1966 AHRA Winternationals which was held at Irwindale. Hightower won top fuel and was later to have taken his winnings to Baja where he spent it all!

 

If you are refering to this car.....nope! Giraffes don't have stripes.

 

What ever happened to the gold Kalitta SOHC car? Anybody know?

It's at the Garlits museum....

 

This was Lee Jennings Desoto powered car I think. It served as one of but 2 or 3 non Chevy powered junior fuelers that ran the So-Cal circuit in the late 60's.
