I'm going it's still the NATS, and don't mind the odd tri-five or effie. I'll just walk by what I don't like.
Good Mexican restaurant, Ernesto's in Middletown, KY on Shelbyville Road. Get the Margarita's by the pitcher! Entertainment on the weekends.
livin on the wild sideeeeeeeeeee.. i try not to eat at a place i can eat at home .but hey thats just me
During the day, if you want some great food, within walking distance... Frank's Meat and Produce. Just a little deli with HUGE portions, good BBQ, etc. Head out the back gate, the one right between the swap meet and the grass parking area. The first street you come to is Preston, take a right and walk about 1/4 mile.
If you like Italian....try Porcini's on Frankfort Avenue! Coach P. sure likes it! In all seriousness, you MIGHT be talking about Lentini's on Bardstown Road...which is sadly no more
Megan, There are two places it could be. Frankfort avenue, or more likely on Bardstown rd/Baxter ave. On Baxter/Bardstown, there's a bar/restaurant called the irish rover, and it's across the street from another bar/restaurant called Molly Malones. It's in the strech of Baxter that's the full on party district. There's a pizza/italian joint right there called Spinelli's. That might be what you were thinking about. There's also Wick's pizza right there in the same strech. Every business/restaurant/shop/ etc. on that street is converted from an old victorian house... If that wasn't what you were thinking about, a little further down used to be Lentini's... And there was an irish pub right across from it too, but Lentini's and the pub have both been gone for several years now. My brother [chef David] was the head chef at lentini's the last ten years it was open. Mr. Lentini had a stroke, and the restaurant was no more. It's now a Vieatnamese/Chinese restaurant called Cafe Mimosa, and it's the premiere upscale asian restaurant in louisville [yum!] and definately worth checking out. The "Come Back Inn" is in that area too, and it's got some amazingly good italian food as well. For you southerners who are coming up, there's a place called Lonnies taste of Chicago... Usually I wouldn't harp a joint that specializes in the premier cuisine of a neighboring city, but.... If you've never had the pleasure of a real chicago style hot-dog or italian beef sandwich because you've lived in the south or never been to Chi-town, do yourself a favor and go see Lonnie!!!!! For Mexican, there's this tiny hole in the wall called El Nopalito located at 4028 Taylorsville Rd. It's not much on decore or atmosphere, but the food is as good as any I've had anywhere. NEVER been disappointed with a meal there. For steak, we got no middle of the road... It's either low end Golden Corral, or ultra high end Pat's steak house, or Ruths Chris. If you got the budget for Pats or Ruths, you wont be sorry you went... Otherwise, just hit the 'corral and eat till your gut bursts. Well.... We got the outback. I guess that's middle of the road... But you could get that in your own home town Every single place that's been listed in this thread by myself and others is good eats. Rocky's across the river in jeffersonville is one of my favorites for dinner. The food is good, the prices reasonable, and the view is out of this world! One last thing, if you're still in town on Sunday the 7th, head down to Captain's quarters for dinner and drinks. It's really hard to find [this is a job for the GPS], but a local band called the Logan Street Band will be rockin' the joint after 6:00... Tell the drummer [Sean] that Darryl says hi.
Shhhhh, Don't tell 'em about Franks, it's a secret. Cup of chili and a peanut butter samich, mmmm! BTW, the-roadster is your avatar the old guy I always see hanging around the fair grounds up there that used to ride the old beat to hell motor scooter around town until he was on Leno (as one of Americas most interesting people or something like that?) Looks like his tat. The first time I saw it it freaked me out.
