Hahahahahaha! It all depends on the part! I asked Terd if he wanted holes and he said it was up to me, this particular part didn't need any. I also want to point out that I'm not knocking Brian b***, he builds some really really really nice stuff, but I personally don't put Lightining holes in much of anything unless I'm sending it out to get hardened and need the holes for proper heat penetration.

    Thanks! Me neither!!!

No offense, but that blue truck doesn't really do it for me. In any way. Whatsoever. I would not have peaked the hood. I would not have molded the headlight bezels. I would not use modern headlights. I would not use '59 cad tail lights on anything, anywhere. And I would not have made the transition from grill surround to bumper(?) look like a glued on afterthought.

I hope no one takes offense to these comments. Its all just my personal taste. I'm sure its super nice. It just screams 'modern' custom to me. I really want to follow older trends. Again, no offense. Especially if who ever built it is reading this, lol.

The Iron Lords are stone cold killers. That's for sure.

I don't want it to get too lopsided.

So Saturday I almost had a stroke getting the frame painted. But it turned out pretty nice. See for yourself...

Today, I finished the filler on the firewall and got that all primed up. The white primer gives a slight hint as to what the finished product will look like. I know I made the right color choice here...

I want to get it sanded and painted tomorrow. We shall see...

What a ****head Terd is!!! He's now becoming a traditional snob but the funny thing is that he doesn't even like traditional hot rods and customs. He likes the exaggerated versions you would likely see in Japan.

Learn some damn manners Terd you self righteous *****!

    Thanks Josh!

Hahaha! I've got a traditional pedigree. The blue truck is nice, don't get me wrong. But it is definately what I call neo-traditional. Honestly, the front bumper is what kills it for me. It looks like an afterthought. It doesn't flow for me. But like I said, different strokes for different folks.

And yes, I love the way the Japanese guys are doing it. Mostly because between bikes, trucks and cars, I've never seen any junk. Its all quality. Even the rarely seen 'under construction' vehicles at the shows would kill 75% of the stuff at the autofair.

I should also mention, my mom and dad came down for a surprise visit over the weekend. I brought him down to the shop to check out the truck. He and *****er talked about how much *****er hates his shoebox, lol. But he absolutely LOVED the pickup. He can't wait to go for a ride. Me neither!!!

Ya know what Terd, your right. In the early 60's their **** didn't look like an after thought at all.....:D:D:D:D

I actually think that front bumper part is pretty cool and if that grille was done a bit better and the aluminum radiator wasn't sticking out like a dog crayon it would look a ton better. You're right about those headlights though....not feeling those. I bet if he used '53 Stude pans like the Aztec did you'd be all over it's nuts.

Good to hear about your father liking Purple Reign. I'd say if he likes it, that's about as much of a compliment that you'll need. He knows what's up. Funny to hear that *****er was *****ing about his '50 again.

Dude, you're totally right. The Kopper Kart pretty much sums it up. Its not that it was built without quality. Its just sort of......gaudy. I know that's probably sacrilege, but that's the way I feel. I like elements of it. But the whole picture reminds me of an OCC theme bike. Is it over the top? Yes. Is it beautiful? No.

I feel like the goal of the customizer should be to make a vehicle more beautiful than stock. The goal of the customizer should not be modifications for the sake of modifications to tick boxes on the judges' score sheets. I like to consider myself a purist rather than a snob, haha!:D

And yeah, *****er was down on his shoebox, lol. The overdrive trans won't mount without pulling the body or cutting the floor. So he's going to use the old one.

I painted the firewall today. I used DuPont Nason 2K urethane single stage in Ultra White, a Ford color. It turned out nice and shiny. I got a couple of small runs around the hood hinge holes but I think they'll be covered up. If not, hours and hours of sanding will fix it, lol.

    Anyway, check it out...

I dropped off my engine mounts to get chromed. I told him how big a rush I'm in and he promised to get them back tomorrow. We'll put the engine back in for the final time tomorrow night.

There's still a list of stuff to do but its pretty short and relatively easy. Here's some of it...
Paint inner fenders and radiator support.
Drill holes in frame for trans mount.
    Reconnect engine wiring.
Install a few gaskets on the engine.
    Install drive shaft.
Make a floor shifter (column shift as planned interferes with frame mounted master cylinder).
Install throttle linkage and tv rod linkage.
    Crank up and do burnouts.

Dude I am so stoked for you and proud OF you!!! That looks amazing!!! I know white was the right choice for sure it looks so damn tasty and I can't wait to see those fine lines highlighting the panels. Man I wish I could thrash like you, I would have been driving my '35 a long long time ago.

**** yeah and congrats. Can't wait to see it tomorrow boo.

Thanks! The white is really really bright. That's what I was going for. I'm glad it turned out like I had hoped. I'm now not sure that I want to paint the inner fenders in place just taping them off like we talked about. I think I want them off to paint.

And what thrash? I was in and out today in two hours, including the time at the paint shop, lol.

I pushed it outside to paint it so I didn't get white spots on everybody's stuff, haha! Its back inside now while it sets up.

lol, I had a set of fenders on a step side bed that were POR15 for well over a year and still looked fine... but I guess it's better to error on the side of caution.

My banjo went flat in a matter of days from sun beaming into the garage. It's not completely flat but it's not like the single stage high gloss when you first put it on but maybe I did something wrong. The underside of my '35 look great still so....

Terd, I'd take the fenders apart.
