The cab looks like 39-40 Chevrolet. (the same as a number of years mind you, but 39-40 for easy figuring)

Reminds me of a 62 Impala I drove 50 miles with truck & trailer to see. It had a tree growing out of the trunk and the floorboards were dirt. It was behind a bard which was surrounded by trees. It would have taken a logging crew & a helicopter to get it out!

 

Found this 51 ford pickup with a 48 front end. I am thinking of buying for part for my 48 Ford project. The grille is real nice

That truck is tough......even with the tweety bird yellow!

 

It would match my 57 too! Local say its been there for 30 years. 10 miles from house too.

Hate to see em go out like that. Out at grannys farm in OK I know there's an old ad gmc that we used to play in as kids. The floors were gone then and that was 25 years ago! We also stumbled upon several 20's to 30's cars and trucks, or what was left of em. My brother and I still talk about going up there and pullin em all out if we can still find em. Finding rust in the middle of 100 wooded acres isnt easy though!!

 

These pics are from the area in and around Knoxville, TN. I shot these over 15 years ago. Can somebody clue me in on the old bus from the late 30s? I'd like to know what kind it is.

 

The 34 Packard belonged to my uncle - it was a solid car when it went into that building that was rotting down. Nearly fell apart when removed 25 years later. The 41 Studebaker has been moved from the location in the photo to a field about a 1/4 mile away.

 

The first bus appears to be a late 30's GMC; the second one is actually an early 50's Dodge. Not many 49-50 Lincoln sedans were built with that roof-line.

 

Not exactly "sitting" & rotting..... more like "laying on it's side".

 

Most of these pictures are 15 or more years old. The 51 Chevy was in the Cave Creek area near Kingston, TN. The Dodge COE was in Madisonville, TN. The Chrysler wagon was near Allentown, PA.

 

i could use the fenders and rocker moldings from that wagon.

Saw this on my drive to Julian.

 

In 1969, my uncle, who passed away in 1992, put this 37 Lincoln in a newly constructed building for storage. Unfortunately, it proved to be a very poorly constructed building and began to leak with a year or two. In addition to this car, others that rotted down were a 34 Packard sedan, 34 Ford Panel Truck, the body of a 34 Ford Phaeton and a 61 Metropolitan. He was a hoarder and wouldn't sell anything. We were close, but I never understood why he allowed things like this to happen. All of the cars were gone within a year of his passing

 

From the early 1990s, a field of rotting 50s Studes, along with an early 40s Lincoln. They are gone now - this was in Loudon County, Tennessee.

 

If the local is the one that told you that it wasnt for sale, He could be wrong. Ask the owner.
Sometime,hear say is just that,and sometime you are the lucky one who asks when they do decide to let it go.

 

Great thread, though sad. I haven't seen all the pages yet, but are there any rotting race cars out there?

 

I have no photos of where I saved it from, but I was asked to remove it for scrap, now it's safely at home.

 

Sorry to quote pictures but i have to ask. That truck wouldn't happen to be in CT now, would it? There is one for sale around here that was shipped here from out west and it is the eaxct same color and shape as this one.

 

32 Ford 5W Cpe _ Still Worth Saving

 

Somebody call 911, 'cause that Chrysler is a CRIME-IN-PROGRESS.
Except for coupes of '41 thru '48, the Keller Era styling at MoPar is not
high on my list, EVEN as a MoPar lover. But the black Chrysler 4DS
looks like a car that should (1) go under a roof ASAP, and (2) would only
take a few hundred dollars to put in running shape, even if you just sold
it to somebody who wants an "antique car."

 

I don't know if it makes it worse or better ...........

 

Oops, I thought that was about a '50 Chrysler, but now it appears to be a '52 DeSoto. I'm guessing about a 236-CI flatty

 

Is that on the way to Borago/Ocatillo?
