I've been folloring this great article and soaking up all I can to use on my build.
Is there a reason you haven't welded up and filled the seam on the underside of the fin? Is it known that they crack out from stress or something if they are filled or do you just want to keep it original looking?
When my Aunt bought a '59 Chevy new I decided at the age of 11 that that wold be my first "fix" on one of them.
I plan to "fix" it on my '60

I welded mine up, DrJ, all of the seams in fact.

  3. My 57 has a 56 dash in it, with everything shaved.. all the ign switch/hd lites etc. So I had my Dad lead in the grooved seams in the dashes corners. Well it cracked, cos of the Hard Tops flex. BUT.. I didn't weld it like Nads said. Til now, I hadn't thought about it.. They don't bother me, now.. cos I feel like I was taught a lesson, and the cracks were the punishment! Hahaha

    Nice build!

If you haven't painted the air cleaner and the valve covers green already, might consider painting them the same white the body is going to be. The contrast might be nice.

Thanks for the well documented build. Great reference for sure!

  5. I am going to paint em the same Buick green.. I think it will look good, all green. Thanks, though! Glad to help out!

  6. So I got the dash and the pkg tray sprayed with some green on there! I'm satisfied with the results.

Sanded and blocked one more time..

  7. Just took some more pictures of the dash. I will sand & polish it on Monday. I am definitely motivated, now! The roof, all the door jambs an around the windows, will be next to be blocked & sanded some more. Readied for the off white, so I can install the glass!

Then I will install the 327/700R4
Then finish the frt shtmtl &pending body work..
    And then..
    an an..
