Even non Deuce guys know that traditionally speaking the '32 Ford is the Holy Grail of hot rods and you have found a original example almost 80 years later. The car hasn't been through the hands of countless hand's during the hot rod dark ages of chop, channel, frame swaps and fire axes to make room for bigger power plants. Wrapping money up in this car is money in the bank,,BTW,You could buy this car and if you decide not to build it you could sell it to another HAMBER and full fill someones dream that DOES want a '32 coupe. BTW,,I think your wife is extremely smart,,,listen to her if you won't listen to us. HRP
Ditto hotrodprimer - elec conversion and juice brakes complete, drop in an axle and drive it! You say its available below the 'value', you get in it and if later you feel it was the wrong thing you get out of it...here on the JJ of course. Dude - sometimes you find them, sometimes they find you!!!!
If you don't like that one I'll trade you mine. I'll be in IN. in sept. and can deliver to your door.
I am assuming that the guy that bought the house is now your BEST buddy....... What a find. Congrats, Dennis D
I know. I know. When something like this is dropped in your lap FIVE miles from where you live it`s just meant to be. I wanted a `32-`34 coupe, I found one. Called the guy this morning. He countered at halfway between my offer and his bottom price and I guess I am way below market according to you guys so I told him it`s sold. I knew a steel coupe was going to be $30,000 plus in driving condition so this is a no brainer. Plus according to him I can drive it home. Thanks for all the advise. More pics to follow when I get it home. Bill
Buy it, buy it, buy it and dont look back. Its an investment in Old America, have you seen what some of today's new cars look like? Crap....
Well kids the $ and the owners number were posted with the pics .. YUP JUST SAVE THE INTERIOR PIC AND ENLARGE ....... . Oops ya all missed this one NOW WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN THE WRONG THING TO DO
The HAMBS cool but I would be standing in front of the guy with 100 dollar bills instead of typing shit onto this thread..... Geesh! GO!
The car looks beautiful and is probably as others suggest a $50K+ car but be careful. It might be good to find someone knowledgeable about ‘32’s to look at it. It looks like a 30 year old restoration. A lot of “restorations” of that time period consisted of just bolting anything on that was ’32 (or almost ’32) without regard to when in the year it was built (early versus late cars). A few things I noticed that would make me take a close look are: alternator, later coil (and I assume distributer), Model A horn (probably based on where it is mounted), later intake and carburetor, later tire cover (it is actually the same one I have on my ’32 roadster), incorrect starter switch (and hole in the dash for it), missing engine splash pans (at least on the driver’s side where I can see the floor where the splash pan should be), later transmission shift tower which means a later transmission (which may be a good thing, it is what I have in my car except I shortened and reshaped the lever to look like what was used in ‘32), dash and window reveals should be wood grained on deluxe. All I can tell from the pictures is that it has a ’32 to ’36 type engine. Do the water petcocks on the block point straight down indicating it is a correct ’32 block? The thing that would scare me the most is whether not the paperwork is clean. The VIN should be on the frame and not the firewall and if the “restorer” didn’t know where the VIN was located he probably made a lot of other mistakes. All this is fine for a driver (and drivers are good) but if you intend to correctly restore the car you might end up replacing a lot of parts. What do you intend to do with the car? If I was looking for a ’32 five window I would sure take a hard look at this one and make an offer. If you buy the car or want to do a little research before you do there is an excellent book called “The 1932 Ford Book” available from the Early Ford V8 Club (earlyfordv8.org). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o> Charlie Stephens
My purpose for the car is to drop it, wheel/tire swap and drive it. i wasn`t interested in a stock/correct coupe to begin with so if it`s not all numbers matching correct so be it. I will do my research to make sure the serial # is valid and he assured me that it was verified by his people when he did his purchase. He is a local judge and seems honest and diligent to a fault. I`m very excited to get it home and couldn`t be happier with the purchase. Your info is appreciated.
Maybe someday when im a big boy ill be able to drop fifty thousand dollars on a nice orig. 32 five window. . . . . . o wait no i wont.
The fact that the serial number is valid is good news but did you ever find the number on the frame? It could be someone bought a title and put a tag on the firewall. You may not be out of the woods yet. Charlie Stephens
"hey guys I just found a 32 5 window priced at half what it's worth.. by the way did I mention I have a beautiful wife who's totally into old cars?" You didn't come here to seek advice, you came here to brag you devil...................nice work.
Nice score. Congratulations on your new aquisition. Now don't post on here again unless it is to apologize for ruining other people's days. Again, congratulations and be careful with that car.
Thank god, i was begining to wonder for a minute. Great score and keep us in the loop of whats to become of her.
Nope. That`s not the same guy. This fellow has owned it for a few years and is losing his storage which is not in Beavercreek. You mean there`s another one out there????
Now that`s funny! Actually I wrestled over this purchase and posted pics so all the HAMB guys could guide me thru this. There is so much knowledge on this board and it`s great to be able to tap into it when necessary. You all did your job well. I`m feeling good about it now. Thanks guys.
Congrats!!! That thing is BETTER than money in the bank. Think about it.....no way will you lose your investment, and if you ever decide to sell it, your rate of return will be better than any bank will offer you today. AND, you get to drive a real 32 coupe in the meantime!!! Like I said, CONGRATS!!!!
