MY buddy is loking for information on the where abouts of this 40 ford coupe. The car was built in the late 50's /early 60's in North Berwick ,Maine. The car was sold to a guy in Berwick , Maine in the late 60's and the flathead was blown. Then the car sat for a while by a house on rt 9 going to Berwick then it was sold again. My friend attemped to track it down and from the info he had it seamed to be sold to some one in the Manchester, New Hampshire area and the body might have been mounted on a later frame or had mustang II suspension added from what he had heard. So the car has vanished for some 40 years evidently.
The original build consisted of the body chanelled 10 inches over the original frame. The cowl and rear quaters were cut to allow the fenders to be raised and remounted. The top of the fenders were scalloped cut for tire clearance. The hood was pancake cut. The top was chopped 4 or 6 inches ( original owner/builder could not remember) and lots of bondo used on the back window area. Brazing rod was probably used considerably. It was said that it was so low to the ground that it would knock over a pack of cigarets that was standing straight up.
This is the only known picture of the car from about 1960.

Yep that is kind of simillar. Chopped chanelled and low. Thanks for the input. I have to admit that I thought I would get a good lead and information by posting on here. But no results yet.

In the early '60s There was a similar '40 coupe parked in front of a Sunoco station in West Warwick, RI. My dad would stop there since the station owner was one of his customers. I drooled over that car. The windshield frame was chrome, but pitted, and boy was it low. I thought it was a west coast car. It disappeared after about 6 months.

Hey I saw a 39 or 40 chopped coupe at the Milltown show this Saturday. It looked like oldschoolwork. The car was black. There might be a pic on the Milltown thread. Check it out. -Jeff
