Florida has these little Pygmy Rattlesnakes that are not only venomous but small and hard to see. I spotted one yesterday under the 27 and grabbed the first thing I saw, spray can of Liquid Wrench, to try to scare it away. Har de har har. Ever seen a snake try to get away when coated in lubricant on a concrete floor? Looked like he was trying to do a burnout in a water box! But without the smoke. Made him easy to drag out with a broom and smack with a sledge. I hate snakes. Gary

Hey .... snakes need love, too.:D
Here's what I found when checking the oil level on my daily.
Both snake and truck owner survived the encounter.

I know what you mean about nasty surprises. A few minutes ago i dropped a fitting under a bench and couldn't see it but i could see a piece of s**** metal that looked like a huge spider and girlied out from just stickin my hand under there and groping around. I got a light and shined it to find the part and that was the biggest *******ed spider i've ever seen! I could hear his footsteps as he tried to get away! It was a tussle, could've gone either way but i got the ****er - his legs spread out to nearly 4". Got no idea what kind, not somebodies pet tarantula - this guy wasn't hairy.

The best snake is a dead snake! Ive heard wise tales from my grandpa about pouring burnt oil around the perimeter of the shop to keep snakes out... The snake hating thing must run in the family.....

Look on the bright side, a couple snakes in the garage will keep the rat and mouse population under control, then you won't have to start a "I hate rats thread!"

Personally, I'm a spider phobia man myself, :eek:but then again, Ive never really seen a rattle snake outside of a zoo!!! that may change my mind.

Snakes don't bother me.... When it comes to spiders, I'll kill those little *******s...
I grew up in Australia as a little kid during the '60's era.. And our back yard was full of "Funnel Web" spiders... Look those up! Them f#%king things would kill ya in a heatbeat if you ever got bit by one of those....

Killed this 3 weeks ago on a walk with my daughter over 4ft. long rattler. I only like 1 kind of snake, the DEAD kind.

Out of all of Gods creatures, I think he could have left these in the Garden.

    MrC.

P.S. I hear theres no snakes in Main.

But it snows there. I'd stick with the chance of seeing a snake every 4 months, than seeing snow for 7 months.

I opened my pool skimmer the other day to find a 6 ft Black snake inside curled up. It shot out of there like a spring, missed my face by about a foot, and was SUPER fast on the water.
It was a very manly scream, I swear....not that little girl scream my wife said she heard.
Took 2 Martini's for me to stop the coronary.

As some know, I moved to Knoxville, TN last year form central CT. Well, I had the bright idea of taking a break from real estate sales after 18 years in CT and instead got a home inspector's license as I had always been curious about that facet of the industry.

After licensing and opening a business here I learned two things, 90% of the houses down here have crawl spaces (instead of full ba*****ts like in CT), and 90% of them have snakes in them!

I now have my real estate broker's license back........The State of TN has my Inspector's License back........

I love snakes too. Keeps the packrats away.
You ever have to rewire a car after a snake chewed on it? I thought not.

Any unwanted snakes, send them my way!

I'd rather have snakes around than mice.:) Mice'll chew up and **** up your interior and ruin wiring and bake and fuel hoses! Snakes don't chew on any of that.:p

Down in the country where I keep a '38 and a '75 O.T. and we camp there, we once had a big problem with mice getting into the vehicles and a nice shed I built there.:( When a 4-foot blacksnake took up residence, I welcomed him/her. And, soon, the mouse population died down. Hmmmm!

A couple of years back, I needed to move him to safer spot, 'cause he was in the fire pit, and I needed to stoke up a camp fire. I pulled a Steve Irwin, and he bit me good before I stepped back and did what I should have done in the first place: Get a blunt stick and hold his head down so I could pick him up and move him.

It's a couple of years later, and he's now over 5 feet. Even though they're not poisonous, I don't want nailed again, so I treat him with a little more respect.:p After all, he's the best mouse control officer I've seen!:D
