Not sure, but seems to be early 70s. That had been done when I bought it with a '73 455 installed, so maybe a '73.

These frames and suspensions are awesome just stick some disc brakes, a rack and pinion out of a cavaliar, and new bushings, you will be money ahead! If you call butchescoolstuff he can explain the whole process he has or can get all the parts you need. I'm still running stock brakes a late model dual master cyl. and its not bad at all. Alot of early ford and chevy guys would kill for our suspensions! My SBC fits nicely in between the frame rails!

yeah it would be alot of work to swap subframes, how much was the disc brake conversion swap? then the small block 318 would fit on the frame without modifying the firewall?

Yes, a 318 willjust go in with out doing any real fire wall mods.It does get tight on the p***enger head at the fire wall, but just a small amount of "adjustment" with a hammer and dolly will take care of that nicely. Do remember to off set the engine trans to the p***enger side about an inch and a half though. It makes life allot easier.

Unless you have a buyer sloppering all over the front of thier shirt, concentrate on the rod, not extra parts to sell.

Look at my build thread and you will see the "modification" you have to make on the firewall. I used a plastic teardrop mallet. Piece of cake.

With Olddaddy's kit it is a matter of drilling the three mounting holes in the spindles to a larger diamater then tapping the holes. From there it is a straight bolt on.

Yes we did that back in the late 1950s . It was a bolt in as far as the transmission, linkages, clutch and all. Thing we did was cut a notch out of the frame for the front pully to clear and turn the radiator around. Split manifold so we could run dual gl*** packs and use a stromberg carb. We beat most everything in town including 1960Pontiac Bonneviles..Had to use HD clutch discs as she was too much for regulars.

I believe he's referring to moving the radiator to the forward side of the support to gain more clearance.

Yes, the factory did that when installing the longer Chr/Desoto engines for export cars.
