This is not mine.. It is my Zen Master of old cars friend's garage.. It is a pole barn. Not a good picture but the top one has a 57 turnpike cruiser (why I am so obsessed) next to a 55 olds loaded 98 that I'd like to buy for my wife someday..
Thanks fellas.....After years of dragging heavy junk..most of it is in one place now. Harm...great wonderful place..full of soul. Great thread.
Norwell I think you and Kev are extremely fortunate to have places like that....well maybe Kev more so then you since his isn't in Canada. Seriously though, that's a rad place to play!!!
Harms Way, that is a beautiful building. I would love to find something similar here in NC but I'm afraid they're all gone by now. Its just a perfect building.
Now some of these should be posted on Ryans other forum and for those not in the know > http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/
The only prying eyes would be two large german shepherds that will rip someones arm off if someone opens the front gate. The shop is not visible from the road.
I stole the wheels and tires off her 31 Sedan to get mine rolling. She made me give them back........ My garage: Here is a brand new day:
Some day I'll move to a bigger garage, with an exhaust fan that will get the smoke out while I'm using the torches . . .
Here's one side of my friends home garage. He is in his 80s and just finished the 32 in just a year build time. His last 32 Ford went 263 mph at Bonneville and Australia a few times with him behind the wheel, this ones a little more docile. Cool clean quiet and unassuming just like the owner.
I've been working in the driveway or a damp cold one car garage under the house since I was 14 years old. I'm near retirement age now and FINALLY 5 years ago my wife and I built this.
Well if nothing else, this thread inspired me to go out and tidy up my shed this afternoon. It is filling up too fast and I need to get everything out to line and insulate it. Nimrod's is my all time fave. I see one pic of it on here but it doesn't do it justice. Is he still around? More pics
View from the main garage door My buddy TJ's Model A Garage art....... Magazine & model car collection on mezzainine Stairs..... The thinking room......
I like the garages like the one here with nice service station doors...they are really nice but a little too sterile. The ones that are older buildings filled to the rafters with parts and auto related stuff from years of collecting really have character.
kwmpa: I like you garage and I was wondering if you could let me know the measurements and the total sf along with how high are your ceilings. Is it heated and cooled? I really like the design of it and about the only thing I would add is having the large garage door open on the front and the rear so that I could pull my trailer straight through. The tin roof is a very nice touch of class. How much do you figure you spent? Thanks Jimbo
It's 40x50...2000 sq/ft....there's a 16x20 loft over part of it but the garage has cathedral ceilings the wall height is 16' total ceiling height is nearly 30'....were just now installing a heat pump for heat and ac....that's running $11,000...to build the garage was $95,000...but that was discounted because a friend did the building...were in it around $111,000 at this point...zoning restrictions only allowed us to go this size...building can only be half the size of your house...we were going to go 3 times this size....but now I have too much stuff again...garage is full barn is full the house garage is full and both the driveways are full...and garages at my house are full (this garage is at my parents) so I'm looking to buy a warehouse...I need to stop buying just can't bring myself to
Thanks for the information. The design is really nice and it fits very well with the land. The ceilings in my garage are only 13' in height and I knew that yours looking higher from the picture. My garage is 30x30 with 10' high doors. Thanks again for the information. Jimbo
