2011 Gasser Round Up @ Hot Rod Ranch w/ Muro Bros.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Panneton Bros. Racing, Jul 21, 2011.

  1. Time to start planning to come to the Gasser Round up this year at the Muro Family Ranch. Last year was alot of fun and this year should be even better. A great family and picturesque farming town 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The date is Oct. 8th, however if you want to show up on friday there may be alittle before partying and hanging out, plus a little cruise into town for anyone up for it. If your from out of town and planning on attending the Hot Rod Renunion (Oct. 21-23) this would be a cool warm up for you. You can reach Gil Muro at (805)757-1765 or gil.hotrodranch@yahoo .com.

  2. PS. Last year they had home made taco's and plenty of drinks, I think the taco's were .50 or 1.00 ea./soda's 1.00ea etc. Anyway I believe there will be food again this year.

Tell your friends (with or without a Gasser) about this event, it's great and very intimate! We're expecting more cars this time being many people came by to scope it out last year - and saw how great it was. Last year we had Anglias, Willys, Henry J's, Tri fives, Novas, a Vette, Falcons, an old dragster, and much more. We even had our own "cacklefest"! Dave Wallace from Hot Rod magazine was present and covered the show on Hot Rod Deluxe and I covered it on Gasser Magazine. As Rick pointed out, a Friday night pre-show gathering and cruise is in the works. Great little town for a show and get away!

  15. HEY! Cool pic Vic, thanks. I talked to Bruce Cox last night on the way home from work, he says he will probably come and bring the the "Rainbow Warrior" this time. Vic, are you bring the Willys, Henry J, or the 55 or all of them? Talked to Gil also, he and the family are fine, just getting used to the new schedule (lack of sleep) ha ha.

    Rick,

Talked with Gil several times today and he's doing good. I made up a flyer for the Gasser Roundup so he'll be printing them up. I've attached a copy of the flyer for all to see. Let me know if you'd like a copy and I can send you one and you can print them up. Hey, try to make it up for the Friday night "meet & greet" and cruised if you can. I'm trying to hustle as many people as I can.

At this time, my plan is to bring the Henry J but we'll see as we get closer. The 55 is a ways yet but will get there if I quit screwing around.

  17. Hey Vic, nice job on the flyer. I will definetly be their early friday. I missed alot last year and don't plan on missing anything this year. My brother and I were up till 1:30 this morning putting the front axle back under (fixing some old scar stuff) the '56. My brother Marc recently bought Gils black 55, and they are preping it for paint now, so it should definetly be their too. I didn't get much chance to visit with you or lot of the others last year, but
I'm not bring the wife or the kids, so I'll be able to this year. I told Gil I'm staying until they kick me out. My brother in law is bringing his '67 Fairlane wagon with an all aluminum 496 FE and Jerico and he will be there early for the cruise too. Thanks for going beyond "the call" to help spread the work. Will Kev be back from the HAMB Drags in time to come?

  18. PS. I'll print off some copies from the color copier at work on Monday, what else do you need for your 55?

In one word - MOTIVATION plus some time...:D Rick, I'd like to see this event take off since there're hardly any gasser related events around anymore that's close by so I don't mind investing the time helping out... though I really should be working on the 55. :(

Great that you, your brother & brother in law all will be bringing cars so that'll be a few more. Kev will be back as the Missouri event is this month so he said he wanted to attend so should be there. The "meet & greet" and cruise should be a nice touch for the event. I'm hoping there's a Dairy Queen or something similiar in town that we can all cruise to and hang out for a bit and get a bite.

Let's get everyone excited about this event!

  24. It would be great to see you and your Stude gasser. I think a
41 Studebaker needs to our next addition.

  25. Vic, got em printed up and a pile of them on our reception desk, thanks again for helping to spread the word, I with you this could really turn into something cool. Gil told me the other day that Lompoc is looking at building a Drag Strip, and there will probably be some people from the commity at the "Round Up". He said that they have already approved the enviromental impact studies and that there are no "tree hugger" problems. Also the IHRA has given them full support. I told Gil that if they build a new drag strip at sea level, there will be no problem filling the pits and town will drag racers. This could be really good for their local economy.

Thanks Rick, hopefully we can help Gil make this another bang up event. The "meet & greet" plus cruise will definitely add another dimension to this event.

Great if this drag strip deal flies! Calif. definitely needs another track to facilitate all the hot rods around. Can you imagine how it'll add to the economy of Lompoc?

Do you have any specifics on this track and what's happening with the process?

Heading through your way for Paso and Cambria show on Labor Day weekend.

  29. Thanks for the info, 1/8 mile is better than nothing, this would be a great place for Randy to bring back "Dragfest".
