This may be considered OT but it is pre-1964. You can tell the size by the trailer. Twin screws and the pictures don't do it justice:

  6. There's a Wellington TX joke in there somewhere.....

  7. I'm not a boat guy by any means, but the old ChrisCraft boats are simply works of art! I'd love to go for a spin around the lake in that one, no doubt!

They have a wooden boat concourse in Lake Tahoe in August every year, a must see. Those things are works of art.

Flat top, I'd say that boat was headed back to some guitar player. Sweet boat and not tiny one at that.

There is a vintage boat show in Cross Lake, Minnesota every summer. While I love the Chris-Crafts, I am absolutely blown away by the HackerCrafts and Gar Woods. Last time I was here, there were three HackerCrafts with Scripps-Booth 16 cylinder engines. If that don't get you excited, nothing will. Also, for you traditional HAMBer's, there's a guy who shows up every year with a '56 Chris Craft with a 354' Hemi. Stunning boats, and as some have said, a ton of work.

  13. Sweet boat. Beats a lot of stuff I have seen on the HAMB lately.

Got this big lake nearby that's about 50 miles wide and 140 miles long...Lots of boats and sometimes you see some nice wooden ones.
I won't even set foot in a boat...but....down by the lake you can hear the cigarette type boats powering by a half mile out.Running along at 5000 rpm with two supercharged Big Block Chevys makes a bit of thunder. And about 80 gallons of fuel an hour.
You think you hot rod engine is tough? Imagine running it wide open for 40 miles............................

I think it fits right in...beautiful boat! There are still quite a few "floating woodies" cruising Grand Lake in NE Oklahoma. I never get tired of seeing them. Thanks for sharing!

I can still smell my fathers old Chris Craft from when I was a kid. That varnish always has an odor.

Same thing happened when I was on the Intrepid. Smelled just like the carrier I was on, actually a sister ship. Funny how memories conjure up those things. But I digress sure is a nice loking boat!!

Here is a few from a trip to the Tahoe show a few years back, hope you dont mind me posting them here. The fit, finish, and overall look of these things are amazing. The first 3 pics are of a boat that had been drug from the bottom of tahoe in about 40 feet of water then restored after being under the water for 40-50 years....the cold water preserved it....and the ignition key was still in the on position. It had a v8-60.

I'd say if that boat, on the trailer, was heading west it is going to Tahoe. I've seen the show and I have also seen Sierra Boat Company where many of these wooden boats get a new lease on life.

Yup, we need sound. A 'y' block chris-craft burbling at the dock is pure, sweet music. I can just imagine that flattie!

  30. Yes !!! That is a heavenly sound !
