2011 Hot rod Drags, was the best show in it's six years! We put on a good show. Here are some other pics...
Passing tech, then getting ready and waiting to race.

Never ran it wide open, in the six passes I made, and let up after the 1/8th mile. It had a pretty bad shake after that.

I wanted to get the feel for it first. Shifting was tricky.

They only wanted me to ran up till the 1/8th, as far as tech.

They let us run just to put on a show and not to race, so I never picked up a time slip.

Last year they said no way to running it at all, so for them to let us have fun was fine by me for now. Maybe if I build the copy car for tech and safety, then I'd love to run a full 1/4 mile.

I think the shake was more then not having the tires balanced. When I pushed the clutch once after the 1/8th, I thought the u-joint was going to fly a part.

But I had fun and got the wheelie picture for now!

Jay gets the first pass, no charge! If I'm a man of my word.

Finding a ride like this, Rare!

    Getting it running, Challenging!

    Getting to run it, PRICELESS!

  18. Yeah, looks like steering was a problem, what with the front wheels off the ground and all! Did you have to change your drawers?

    Mike,
Great project, great write up. Glad I could help with a scatter shield engine plate.

  24. I know it has already been suggested, but you should seriously consider attending the Meltdown Drags.

That awesome machine of yours would fit right in, as well as be allowed to run down the track.

Thanks for the invite! But, it has been the same dates as our Hot Rod Drags, just seven miles down the road from me, so I've had to pass, but this year not sure if they are even going to have them any more? So I hope to make it soon! This year if I can.

  26. Mike,

You are very welcome for the invite. I'll PM you another invite;)

I can guarantee you will have a great time should you decide to attend the Meltdown Drags. I know it isn't only seven miles down the road from you, but it IS worth the drive. We have people from all over the midwest and many from quite a bit further away. Check it out on the invite link I gave you.

Several of us are bringing MULTIPLE cars. And there are other dragstrips much much closer to us, but as I said earlier it is worth the drive!

Well as of tonight, I found out the local club has voted NO for having the Hot Rod Drags this year.
So as of now, I'll try to bring her to the Melt Down Drags, I just bought a true '56 gasser from the east coast, that we are picking up the weekend. Who knows maybe I'll bring two. Thanks and keep me posted, Mike

Mike, just to let you know, the Eddie Cochran show/swap (in Albert Lea) will be held again this year.

The date is June 9th in case you want to bring the 'Thumper' car...( and gasser Chev too!)
