I was watching an episode of Higway Patrol with Brodrick Crawford and the show feature a WICKED bad*** channeled deuce roadster that the bad guys were using as a getaway cay. I would love to know where that car is. Anyone else remember this tv show ?

How did Broderick do burn outs with tire squeel on dirt roads? Well,... or am I the only one who noticed?

ahhhh yes I remember that show. They used a lot of heavy "road hugger" vehicles back then.

one show had a roadster with 3-2's and the end carbs were dummys and the bowls had drugs hid in them. Hwy Patrol, 77 sunset strip, rt.66, even dobie gillis's "maynard krebs" had a hot rod.

And it is unbelievable how much trash was on the roads back then. It must have been the norm because it wasn't even removed for the filming. All I can figure is that it was so commonplace in California back then that they didn't see it.

The scenes that you noticed with trash on the road were probably location shots filmed in Maine...

Yep yep...good one. We always laughed a that when in high school too.
Worse than that though, was an old show where a couple of boats were chasing each other, one being a beautiful old Chris Craft, and every time it make a sharp turn in the water ...... Yep it squealed just like tires burning!!!
    Cheers,
    Bob

Sorry, I didn't mean to slam CA. Shouldn't have mentioned the state since I'm sure trash was all over the place here too. As a matter of fact it was common practice for people here to go for a drive and dump their trash on the side of the road.

Actually there was trash all over the place back in the day,.. at the drag strip, oval track,.. car shows,.. baseball games,... you name it. cigarette ****s and paper cups, candy bar & gum wrappers,... people would just drop the stuff on the floor.

Always one of my faves ! Some seasons they used Mercs.

AND, when they'd roundup the "bad guy/guys', it was usually a one-on-one situation with Crawford & another cop. Period. They didn't have a S.W.A.T. Team of 20-30 Uniforms closing in.

Truth be told, it DID happen that way many times in that era...I've heard that from a number of seasoned law enforcement guys through the years. (Of course the Perps in those days didn't have Uzi's either. But some did have well-supplied ****nals.)

Great show ! Glad it lives on for all to see that great "snapshot" of Americana in the 50's !

Saw that the other day, copyright 1956.Sweet roadster.
Olds powered. They caught the guys by tracking down who had superchargers through a local club.
I guess the normaly aspirated 2- 2 barrel carbs were there to throw the cops off of looking for a blower.:D
Do love the show.On at 5am every day.Great iron.
