Was it the full moon or what ? So I get the 49 Ford out of the garage for spinn around town. I start it up , get it out of the garage. A neighbor never met before, runs out yelling at me "don't you have mufflers on that thing" Isn't there a law of something to that fact. We are trying to have BBQ here, that car is just awful. I listen to her rant for a few , then nicely answer her question no it has no mufflers and it's straight pipes. Now I try to be as quiet as can be when pulling the car out from the garage and not make waves. So I leave a little pissed at this so called neighbor for being a total @#%hole. Go along my way and make a few stops. Then the boys in blue, walked over to were I was parked.. and stated that my car was very louded and maybe I should do something about it. WOW !

To ruff where you are, got pulled over also for mufflers. Had a nice 15 conversation about Flow Masters, Spin Tech and other muffs. Motor cop couldn't deside what he was going to use on his car.

No mufflers? Isn't there a law of something to that fact? How are you "in the right" here?

Is this only your first time?? Its not only a "loudness" law but its also a USFS (u.s. Forest Service) supported law that any motorized vehicle has to have spark arrestors to prevent forest fires...

If we all had that attitude, our pass-time, an my vocation would truly be outlawed. Don't go down that road, please.

I was working at UCLA and parking in the parking structure across from the Police station on campus. When I started up my El Camino, four floors of alarms would go off. One day I was leaving after work and a guy from the structure was leaning against the car next to me and wrote down my plate. The next morning there was a cop car waiting for me when I got off the frwy and followed me to the donut shop that we all met at before work and stopped next to me and I couldn't open the door. He says "start the car up". I looked at him and started it up. He says "it's TOO LOUD!". I said "no it isn't!". He says "it's one thing if I can hear your car, inside my car. It's another thing if I can FEEL you car inside my car!. If you don't have this fixed by Monday,i'm impounding the car and giving you a ticket!". I took the Flowmasters off and put turbos on it...

Well if they keep coming over on your property to bitch and moan there are tresspassing and harassment laws I am sure you can shut them up with. There is nothing they can really do about it since it is not quiet hours. I am sure they could find something though.... Hell you can put a set of glasspacks on it and those are considered "mufflers", which is stupid because my plymouth is loud as hell and might as well be fitted with straight pipes.

So typical, you get a warning and you're complaining???????? Someone that still complains after getting off with a warning will just about locks in a ticket for the next guy.

It sounds like you ticked off your neighbor & he doesn't like your car.

I'm not sure why you posted this on the HAMB unless you wanted a "stroke" for being a loud pipe guy. Fix your exhaust (read BadBob's) post and TRY to make your neighbor happy so that they don't get ticked off @ 9pm when your pounding metal on your car.

I just pay the tickets, it's my civic duty as a citizen of this fine country.

Noise violations are a funny thing, the motorcycles they ride are often as loud as my cars.

Maybe you could move to North Sound? J/K , I have a split manifold on my 235 in the 53 Bel Air and the only comment I have ever gotten from the local cops is that it sounds cool.

You break the law and think it's OK, but everybody else is an asshole? You were lucky you got a warning and not a ticket. Now take the money the nice policeman saved you and put some mufflers on your car. It's the decent thing to do.
