Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by snopeks garage, Aug 8, 2011.

  1. Hey tell the Gags you need the day off and get yourself and that truck to the Relix Riot.

  2. If you are still having cooling issues than Woodward is not for you. BTW get to the Relix Riot or you fail your next Fit Test!!!!!

  3. Rudy are you rolling out Friday after work or Saturday morning? We arer leaving Friday after work if you want to run over with us. Make sure you stay on Roger to make sure the Cad is up for the trip

  4. I'm planning on coming down Friday and camping. With no shower, I'm gonna smell like flathead exhaust, B.O., and beer by Saturday afterenoon.

So, I think it's the others that need to beware...:D

What's up with "retarted"? FYI, the reason the Relix were able to get the August date was the demise of another show that weekend, so it was available, moving the show from the last weekend in Sept. The Gilmore has events every weekend, it's not like you can pick one and demand to host an event that date.

What's really "retarted" is griping about two different kinds of events, on opposite sides of the state, attracting different crowds on the same day. I wouldn't cross the street to go to the Dream Cruise, and lots of dorks wouldn't bother to go the Relix Riot, and we don't wanna hang with them anyway.

The Dream Cruise is more about an attempt to retain and support that which built Metro Detroit, the auto industry, than it is a car show. My friends, family and I make it a point every year to do what we can to keep the "auto enthusiasts" dream of cruising, hanging out and enjoying the automotive culture. Yes, this event is open to everyone and every does show up (mini vans and all). Metro Detroit, The Motor City, I fear is loosing its image. The history and culture that created and popularized the automobile has faded from our hometown streets. Giving up on events like the Dream Cruise adds to the decline of what once was.
I'm going to sit in traffic, on the curb, stretching my neck to look over the mini vans to wave and appreciate the classics, customs, muscle and rods that still make the attempt to show their roots and pride. Don’t complain about your jobs or the economy while you sit in a farm field when you have an opportunity to build your community and fight to bring back the Motor City.
I can see a car show any week.

You speak as if the "motor city" is even a shadow of its former self anymore. I lived in detroit for years, and the idea of detroit being a hot rodders mecca is an absolute lie.

Have fun on the curb straining to see the sweet camaro.

  17. I dont mean to slam the Dream Cruise in my posts. I am away on Business or I would be there this week enjoying it with everyone else. It's just on Saturday WHOAAAA way to many folks for my liking. I am the Son of a Autoworker, love the history of Detroit and the Automotive Industry. I rountinelly take out of towners to see the Ford Piquette Plant, The Highland Park Plant, and the GM Tech Center. Anything to shed a good light on our City, and what made it great gets a thumbs up from me. I have done my time there and feel I do my part by Driving my cars every chance I get all summer long. It just so happens I will be driving mine to the Relix Riot

I threw on the WWWs on the only steel wheels I had and got the wagon ready to roll. We are hitting the road about 3pm and should hit Gilmore around 6PM Michigan time (just enough daylight to pitch a tent. I can't wait. I do hope the weather holds out 'cause I still didn't get my top done or windows in!

Looks great with the wide white!! See you there.

  24. Just checked the weather looks good till mid afternoon, they are calling for a 40% chance of rain or 60% chance of sunshine depending on how you look at it. I take the forecast for what it is, they still have the uv index as high, sounds like a cya forecast. I just hope work flys by and I can get home early to hit the road.

  25. I'm heading out EARLY Saturday AM with my new Salt Flat's on my coupe. Just took the steelies off, and I'm gonna have a good time where ever my car spends the day.

Heading on the road in a few hours. Will be there by early afternoon to check out the museum since I'll be trying to make some cash at my tent/booth saturday. Stop by to say hey and buy some cool art for your walls. Will be camping tonight. Hope to meet some new people.

I'm guessing the relix is a simular show to the * panty raid * , (I loved it! )

but I get the feeling the traditional guys are snobs to anything built after a certain *year*
    compared to STYLE
and my 44 year old is a too new

We have to have rules about years or else its just another car show. We wont turn you away, you'll just have to park in the non-traditional area.
