Hot Rods Show Me Your Radiused Quarters !!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RoadFarmer, Aug 17, 2011.

  1. I thought it'd be cool to have a thread with pictures of Radiused quarters.
I'm going to be getting it done on my car soon and can't decide if I want a little lip on the edge or no lip at all......so what do you guys got?
Here's a couple pics to get it started

If you are saying there is something wrong with the gasser in the first pic, You should just give up hotrodding now and keep driving your mini cooper....Or whatever other little ugly cars you drive over there.....Just my 2 cents

Forget mrjinx and lets keep the thread on the straight and narrow.

When i saw the title the first thing I thought was what an excellent idea for a post.

I'd like to see how radiusing was handled on various makes and models.
Tri-fives are basic with just an outer panel but some other makes are much more complex.

  8. That's exactly what I was thinking man! Didn't wanna see the thread die out yet due to trash talk! Hahah I'd love to see all makes and models too, I have a '55 chevy, but can gather ideas from everything

  12. This is a 55 Chevy Gasser that I'm building for a buddy of mine. He drove them back in the 60's. Today he has MS, but that's not stopping him. When it's finished it will be driven on the street with all the bells and whistles.

O/T car, so I'm only showing the 1/4.

( this is how us hicks do it...:D)

( these are the only detail pics I have.
So I cant show the finished 1/4s without showing the rest of the car, which I dont want to do.

I finish welded the lip to the outside metal and to the inner fender on the inside.

Final bodywork will happen when I paint the car, but for now it just has some gray primer covering the bare metal...)

  14. for the falcon crowd. on the early falcons, pre 64, just find a pair of front fenders and use the wheel openings on the rear. body line is the same, so it amounts to very little work. sorry no pics, but all you got to do is look at one to see . have done three in the past...easy peasy..lemon squeezy.

When I first saw the title I thought of many of Darryl Starbird's customs.
    Gassers never crossed my mind.
They never crossed my mind because who gives a shit what they look like as long as they are the quickest and fastest racing?

  16. There's nothing wrong with lookin good while you're the quickest and fastest haha

I like flush to outside, small lip to inside...But only really works on cars that were flush to begin with...Small, squarish flair to match front but NO cut side chrome..

I remember an article in hotrod years ago saying to use station wagon quarters on 55's to open up the wheel radius
