Not just another chopped Model A...MY chopped Model A! Thanks for all the comments. I'm very excited with the outcome and feel that a lot of the other proportions of the car were improved by dropping the roof...especially with leaving the fenders on. As for the color, we'll keep it the same and paint from the beltline up. Concerning the cowl lights, I'm on the fence...I wired them up as signal lights and they're nice to have. I'll shoot a side profile picture and post it soon.

  3. This was a beautiful coupe to start out, but it's incredible how MUCH cooler it looked when we dropped the roof back down on it with four inches gone. The car has great steel and solid wood, so was really pretty "square" -- which made the initial layout that much more accurate. Saving the paint and carefully dismantling the interior made it more work than chopping a bare-steel body, but this a really bitchen car and it all paid off. Adam is a talented artist and did most of the cutting himself. Seriously, he has the hands of a surgeon. All in all it was a great day, with great results.

Bob the rear fenders while you have the welder and paint out! Take about three to four inches out of the rear, weld the lip back on and visually roll the fender forward!!!!! OOOOooooH Loook out!!!!

In all honesty the car looks way better chopped. I know, from your previous thread, you were somewhat torn on the issue, however you made the right decision. Yank the fenders and you will have the coolest car around!

Yeah, the rear fenders look good long, but would be even better bobbed just a bit. Maybe 3"?
I like this car more than ever.

Hey, as long as you're matching paint and welding an' everything.....

The chop looks great, but i would have had a hard time cutting into that shiney paint. Agree with 'bobing' the rear fenders too, the two kind of go together.

I Photo-bobbed the rear fenders, looks good both ways...not a bad dilemma to have. I'm with Flip and Jeem...3" would be killer. Or, I could go the other way and lengthen them! No? Ok.

Well, almost done. Here's a before and after shot, and a link to some of the work done...

...now, I just have to decide what to do with the fenders, to bob or not to bob.

  29. I can't focus on the chop with the mud flap rear fenders. It really needs to be bobbed to pull it back proportion wise. It was passable having those coattails on an unchopped car, but now that it's chopped it looks like an unfinished distraction. JMO, your mileage may vary.

  30. I'd have to agree with Comet, It's hard to look at right now, pull the fenders off and have a look.
